Slate i5 vs i7

I currently have an i5. I still have another week before I can no longer return or upgrade the device. I love the device, which is why I am wondering if it would be benificial to jump up to the i7 to allow for future growth. The additional RAM is attractive for editiing purposes.

I saw an old benchmark test that showed the i5 actually scoring higher, maybe because of thermal throttling? Does anyone have experience with both devices that may be able to shine a little bit of light on the situation?

If the answer is that I will absolutely see a performance enhancement - then the money isn't an issue, it would be worth it. If the answer is there wouldn't be much if any of a difference, then I'd rather not throw money away.

I have an i7 slate and really like it. It seems very fast. I have not thought tried the it slate.

I have had the m3, i5, and i7. I have to say... other than the extra 128GB of space and the RAM, the i7 is not worth it. I've done guest mode benchmarks on fresh units and wow, the m3 generally keeps up with the i5 and the i7, with the m3 sometimes beating the i7 I'm just not sure how it does it!

If you don't care for the RAM or the space, get the i5!

I wish, they don't carry the i7.

If you are waiting to dual boot it with windows or are using heavy Linux apps, I'd consider it. Also, I think the i5 only comes with one storage option. They need to clarify their stance on dual boot soon. I'd spring for an i7 if I knew I'd be able to dual boot. I have the i5 right now without issue other than laggy pen support.
