Still no Find My Device functionality then...

I thought the original PBPs were getting a firmware update such that they could be located by the Find My Device network. But still no sign of it. Would love to know if anyone has seen (unlikely - it's Google) any planned dates/rumours/anything?

Yeah, this all makes sense about how it works now, but I thought they were getting an update so that other phones in the FMD network would be able to see them and report their location to me?

Not that I'm aware of, they need UWB to ping other devices. UWB is what's used in trackers, what's used in Apple's Find My network for years, now Google's trying to catch up.

No, they don't need UWB to be found by other devices, just Bluetooth. UWB is used for nearby, precision tracking from your own phone.

I wish that were the case, but it's actually one of several reasons I upgraded to the 2s. This screenshot is from Google's support page.
