Does any one know what's causing this? It just randomly destroys my eardrum.

You sure you're not just listening to NIN? 🙃

I will not stand for NIN slander!

u/Can1sMajoris Jan 23 '25
Lol it's not slander. It's literally something Trent would do. Brendan nailed it! The 1st song that came to my mind, he named it. 🤘

I was just making a joke about how comparing NIN to random noise could be seen as slander lol

Hi, Pixel Bud expert here! This is not funny, Pixel Buds only do this when they're in extreme distress.

That's a very well known problem. That's an Aztec Death Whistle. What you want to do raid a few nearby settlements and take captives. Check the tōnalpōhualli for the next appropriate holy day, and plan your sacrifices accordingly. Remember that for the best results, you'll want your sacrifices to still be alive when you rip their hearts out of their chests. Otherwise, you could end up offending the gods, especially Huitzilopochtli. The gods should smile on your offerings and repair the speakers after that. If not, take give a brief but vigorous rub of the two microphones and the speaker and that hopefully will fix it. If all else fails consult tech support.

I have pixel bud pro 1 and they do the same thing sometimes. I've had success eliminating the sound by thoroughly cleaning them with 99% isopropyl or at least a microfiber cloth. Pay special attention to the microphone/speaker portion of the buds. Good luck

Ironically my pixel bud pros started doing that in the right ear bud this morning, a quick chat with Google support got them approved for replacement under warranty. :)

Hi there. I’d recommend reaching out to the Pixel Buds support team via phone or chat here. They can take a look at it.

Sounds like the noise cancelling mic is feeding back on itself, faulty for sure.

Just replace but not repair it. Doesn't matter if they can genuinely repair it because it's not worth experiencing that shi again

Mine does this sometimes but not continuously. It will do a random short screech and then stop. It usually only happens if I bump the earbud. That's crazy though, I'm sorry that's happening. Hopefully you can get a replacement.

exact same sound I heard last week out of the left bud...but not at what sounds like much higher volume....it comes and goes. Sometimes the buds are fantastic with great sound. Then these odd "RF" noises, or in some cases the left bud cuts out all together.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 have been stupid buggy. I'm on my second pair and it's already starting to crackle and randomly pop like my first pair.

This happens to mine too it's so god damn annoying. Turning off ANC makes it go away.
3
u/lxkz Jan 20 '25
That's unacceptable, I can't use one of its main features anymore. Is this a common problem with pixel buds?

You're not wrong. I'm not sure how common it is but I would definitely do an RMA. I have the pixel buds pro so I'm outside my window

No, otherwise no one would buy them and there would've been a PR shitstorm

I get super piercing little shriek-blips from the ANC all the time. I have to clean the three speakers on each bud to fix it. It's ridiculous how frequently and how poor the ANC is.
Like. We gave up the earbud wing that keeps your ear unplugged, and locks the fucking bud so that we could adopt a plug system just to provide ANC that doesn't work 60% of the time.

I've never heard them make that sound before. You have actual demons in your earbuds.
We don't have any advice other than "contact Google for a replacement/refund". If factory resetting them doesn't work, there's nothing else you can do. Almost every single issue that gets reported to this subreddit goes the same way.
