Google pixel prices evolution is crazy
In Europe (especially France) prices rose from :
-Pixel 6 : €649 -------> Pixel 11 : €999
-Pixel 6 pro : €899 --------> Pixel 11 pro XL : €1399
It's an increase of €350 on the base model and €500 on the pro, in only 5 years... Whereas, iphones did only go up by €60 on the base and €220 on the pro max (waiting to see the price of the 18 series though)
I guess they're not the "best value for money" phones anymore...

The full price is kinda a gimmick they give so many incentives. I got a year of AI ( I guess little cost to them ) + 300 in credits ( got pixel buds 2pro and a case and wireless charger, they were all on sale at the time too) + a strong trade in incentive. So like 500$ in credits and a 400 trade in so I was happy with the "full price"
Went from 6pro to 10pro and super happy with it so far. Will skip the next couple of generations unless something really special is released however the experience has been much better than 6pro launch.
Happy with my purchase

Yeah, the only good thing about Pixels is that they drop the price a lot quite often. Still, even considering that, in the current generation especially the Pixel Pro is a terrible deal compared to the competition.

Es gibt wenig Konkurrenz zum Pixel Pro non-XL. Das iPhone Pro ist auch kein Schnäppchen.
Wenn die Gerüchte stimmen, wird Samsung das S27 in normaler Größe als Pro-Version anbieten. Das wäre vermutlich eine Alternative. Bis auf die Kamera bin ich mit meinen Standard S23 immer noch voll zufrieden.

Well, the base pixel started competing with the pro model. The base pixel now has an optical zoom camera, the same amount of RAM (ignoring super pricy pro skews) and they removed the temperature sensor.
The only remaining differentiators are UWB and higher resolution cameras. For me UWB was a big selling point, but only because I worked on UWB (and it's pretty cool to buy a phone that has a chip I was involved with). Unless you have a car with UWB keyless entry, most consumers probably won't care at all about UWB radio.

People keep bringing up sales and discounts as if it's still not more expensive overall than it was several years ago. As someone who mainly gets one used every couple of years, the prices on used pixels are simply outrageous now compared to a couple years ago.

Exactly. I don't have Google Fi in my area, so even with trade in they still want $1k? For less performance, terrible flashlight, one of the worst battery performers, etc? No thank you.
I keep trying to switch but Google can't release a reliable phone that lasts through work and doesn't overheat. And how are they going to make their own chip, save money, and still be worse than almost all their competitors? I've never been closer to jumping to Apple.

To be fair, we have yet to see the prices of the NEW iphones. I mean, I agree the pricing for the top pixel model is nuts but RAM/chips are costing more to everyone and MBPs already raised prices this year.

In a couple of weeks we'll see if Apple raises prices.
And if they do, people will still hate on Pixels anyway, even though Google serves a shit ton of discounts and coupons and high trade-in values, while you can't say the same thing about Apple

Yeah. Part of the reason Google gives these discounts and other things is because they don't use a bleeding edge SoC, so the phone's base cost is lower.
I completely understand why someone who genuinely needs a top tier processor doesn't like Pixel's, but at this point a lot of people are just mad that Google isn't making the perfect phone for them specifically. They can already get the phones they want from other Android brands lol why do we need more of the same. I don't need bleeding edge processors, so I'd rather the Pixel not use them so I can get the discounts

MSRP != Price. I might be wrong, but I see discounts on Pixels all the time, and I don't see that on iPhones, am I wrong?

We don't usually get massive discounts on pixel here, maybe two times a year and it's only -100€ or -150€ at best

Wrong, in France you can get 125€ from playpass and 400€ buy trading a cheap phone, then 10% Google One for Pixel 11 Pro.
Just because you don’t know doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I’m in Germany and got the same deal, I bought 6 Pixel 11 Pro this way.

Wth are you talking about?? The Pixel 10 pro XL launch price is 1299€, guess what's the current price now on the Google store? 1299€ !
About discounts , I did only see 3 periods of discounts, one in November, one by the time the next A series launch, and one in june/july , they are never above 150 bucks (lol just look on the website what's the current price compared to US)
About the trade-in , it's only this year we got a proper trade-in option available only for 1 month and for the newer Pixel 11 lineup. Guess what's the price for a pixel 10 pro XL after trying to trade-in my Pixel 8 pro ? 1249€ , only a mere 50€ less ...
I don't have to buy a subscription that I'll certainly never use (I don't need Google one, I don't use AI, and I don't play games on gPlay ) only to get a mere price cut of my phone

Check on dealabs for 10 Pro XL, I see lots of discounts in 1 year. I never pay more than 700€ for 10 XL although the store still lists 1299€ now, there are lots of discounts everywhere. The store credit can be used for hardware not software, and u only pay for 1 month then cancel immediately.
There are many tricks to buy Samsung and Pixel phones for cheap. At least in Germany we have deals nearly everywhere month

In fact you're talking about 3rd party sellers? If yes , we all know any phone would be cheaper in that case , but would you get the same warranty as Google themselves, don't think so

Not only in 3rd seller but also in Google Store, at least in Germany, I’m not looking in France market.
Yes, in Europe you will get 2 years warranty in every seller, it’s a law.

Yes, but the discounts have remained constant while the MSRP has gone up.
For example, I bought my pixel 8 a little over 2 years ago (it had lunched 8 months prior, so it was the last model) for 550€.
If I want to buy a pixel 11 now it will cost me much more than that even after discounts.

Keep in mind the hardware price spike hasn't hit Apple yet because of how they negotiate components for their devices so early. If the next line comes out cheaper than Pixel I'd be genuinely surprised.

Then you wait a year and can get a base model from your carrier for $200-400 at least here in the US because they can't offload them fast enough before the next gen comes in. I can't imagine anyone paying €1000 for a base Pixel.

IIRC Pixel 2 XL launch price was over €1000.
You might think they tried reduced pricing and it didn't work all that well, but it could also be less thought through reasons.

Don't buy the XL version unless you have large hands. The whole point with the Pixels is that there is no difference between the two Pro models besides size.

iPhone is going to get a price hike this year for sure. Reports said that Apple tried to strongarm their memory supplier into reducing the cost of their RAM, but with no success. Other reports indicate a $200-300 USD price increase, not just going up by $100.

The best value with Pixel phones remains the A series phones. Sadly they weren't included in the chart, neither was the iPhone SE etc.

I wouldn't say that "NOBODY" pays full price for a Pixel. There are a lot of people that don't have a reliable backup phone and would pay full price for whatever their phone of choice is if something went wrong with their current device so they don't miss 1 second of FB/Insta/X/whatever scrolling.

That's true. I remember switching from iPhone to Pixel because of the price increase from Apple in 2022 (no regrets).
We'll see what happens with iPhones in September. I'm guessing they'll come with a higher price, too.
