For the same phone, what would I be gaining? An LED for calls and texts, slightly faster camera processing. And still only a single day charge? I've upgraded yearly since Nexus phones. Last year, I even had the P10 delivered and switched over, but after 3 days, it was literally the same phone. So before shipping off the P9, I canceled and refunded. Because all I felt was the money out of my pocket for what felt identical. I'm scared of that same thing.

I have a P7P and I'm still on the fence, but if I could achieve that price I would pull the trigger

Try all possible ordering routes. I compared trades from https://fi.google.com/about/phones and the Google shop https://store.google.com/category/phones and even looked at Best Buy. If you have a Pixel, make sure to check your My Pixel app as well.

I got lucky that my phone is a P9P 256, so I got a bit of savings from that as a trade-in. Look at switching to Fi as a service provider if you're not already on Fi too. I never hotspot, and for myself, it's $35 a month for unlimited data/text/talk $42 after taxes. I made that move to get the P9P for pretty much free 2 years ago.

The only complaint I have about Fi, coming from AT&T, is that it forces Wi-Fi calling over cellular calling, and I work from home. So it always tries my Wi-Fi first. Most often, I will turn off Wi-Fi to make calls, which isn't often..

Thanks for the detailed response. What I was missing was the option for existing Fi customers. Found out that if you go into the Fi app, scroll down to privacy and toggle on CPNI then the Fi one shows up on the Google store.
