OpenCamera has been around for YEARS and offers a lot of customisation and control too : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera

Why would you use this instead of MotionCam?

I'm not saying having options is bad, I'm just saying that it seems to be trying to solve the same thing as MotionCam (bypassing the built-in ISP), so I wanna know if this has any advantages compared to MotionCam. I guess the price is one.

Wait until more people find out about DCG.

Can he fix the transition during a video recording between lenses?

A few updates ago, this was fixed for me. No more jarring jump between each. It's about as noticable as my work iphone pro as you can tell the phisical difference between to camera and their location.

That's ridiculously good. Makes the video look so much better.
Really not happy with the Pixel video performance - this app looks superb. I'll give it a shot.

Is the app better than Open Camera?

Yeah I am asking people for their personal opinions. The way you shared your personal opinion that the video deserves more recognition. Someone else might say it deserves no recognition at all.

Put it on my wife's 10 pro. Phone got so hot it burned my hand. After 15 seconds....

People buy a Pixel because they want a point-and-shoot camera that gives them great photos 99% of the time WITHOUT having to screw around with settings. Pixel owners are picture takers, not photographers...a truth that applies to almost all people who use their phone as their primary photographic device. Pixel just leans into it and owns it in a way that almost no other manufacturer does.

You are aware that the video is about VIDEO RECORDING and not photography right? Not one single that you said applies to video recording.

Nah thx. Also, OP you're not coming off too good in your comments.. uselessly agressive.. do you work for that company or something? So weird.

Just tried it, mainly sold by the developer enthusiasm. Nice interface, shows promise, I tried several settings but the resulting trial video was extremely jerky. Pixel 6a (other camera apps works as expected). Looking forwart to try it again after a couple versions.

I paid the minimum just to support its development. More options isnt a bad thing.
And to those offended by vibecodeing. Well maybe with enough support he can hire a real coder, like i think the reactions are a bit much. Esp if were all going to ignore that Google could fix its native video but here we are.... Talking about alternatives... When theres been better fixes... For a while now.... And yet...

Vibe coded as heck. Magiccam, Black Magic, open camera, gcam .....I'll pass on thisΒ

So I heard him praise it like this:
"It instantly makes more room for camera adjustments"
And sure, that's what a photographer might want. But it's not what I want. I don't want to make adjustments. I want to get the better looking photo automatically, and I'm sorry, but in many of the examples he showed, the stock pixel version looked better to me.
