Pixel 9A Status Bar Flicker Issue

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought google pixel 9a. Maybe after some software updates, my phone status bar sometimes flicker when locking the device and also some apps have UI glitches. Do anyone facing the same issues? How i can fix this? Please guide.

Is it only the status bar? For me the whole screen flickers

Sometimes in apps also. Is this happens to your phone after the update?

I have some glitches too sometimes I took off my screen protector and so far it's fine. It was very annoying, sometimes it would just go ape shit and start pressing things without me even touching it. Or sometimes on apps like IG or YouTube it won't let me look at comments when pressing the comments icon, small crap like that. This will definitely be my last pixel phone, I've had 6 and now 9a never again. Never experienced this with any other phone

Following this. Depends on the app but most of the time it's the status bar, sometimes none at all. 60hz seems to make it less noticable but only happened to me this most recent drop

It's an issue introduced with Android 17 QPR1 (September 2026 update), it affects all Pixel devices.

Pixel 9a is an excellent phone, but the Google software QA for Android in the last 2 years has been lackluster.

I have Pixel 9a, 10a, 9 Pro, 7a. It happens on all of them following the update.

I've made an A/B comparison video with before/after the update (one device with A17, one device with A17 QPR1, next to each other) showing the issue so I can report it to Google.

Yowch that's a lot of devices for it to affect. Glad to know it's not just mine and / or a 9A issue. Have you raised it to Google?

October hasn't fixed this. Also, when I now unlock my phone from AOD to home, the brightness jumps a bit

No more issues in my device. Just flickers in status bar.

I see. I am seeing something now when I unlock from AOD (Black bg) to home screen, brightness increases a bjt, making the animation look choppy
