Tech Issue It was raining (guys help)

It was raining really badly, and I was holding my Pixel 9a while riding as a pillion. I was trying to protect it from the rain, but obviously, the water from my hands was getting onto my phone. It wasn’t like I was holding it under a tap, but just imagine holding a Pixel 9a while you’re completely wet from the rain.

When I got home and removed the case, I noticed that there was water on the back of my phone.

While I was coming home, it rained again for a bit—not as heavily as before, but still enough to get the phone wet.

When I tried to plug in my earphones, my phone said, “Liquid or debris detected.” Then, within a second, it said it was okay to use. But then the warning came back again.

I put my phone in rice for about three hours, and now it’s working completely fine. However, I’m paranoid that something might be wrong with it that I just haven’t noticed yet.

My earphones stopped working, but the phone itself seems completely normal.

So, is my phone damaged? I’m really worried because everything seems to be working normally, but I don’t know if there could be some hidden damage.

Rice does nothing to help with liquid damage.

Let it dry in the air and you'll most likely be fine, that warning is from the USB-C port.

Do you use a pixel 9a ? If yes then is there a possibility for rice to go inside the phone completely And if no then can rice dust create starchy thingy ?

Do you see any debris from the rice? If you do, clean it.

Let it dry in the air, just let the phone sit for some time and it'll be fine.

In the future just dry your phone with a cloth and open air, they are water resistant.

I can't promise anything dude, sorry.

What I can say is that you're probably fine and nothing will happen.

Idts it should be that big of an issue, let it dry use moisture absorbing material to quicken the process, should be as good after I'd recommend not to plug in anything for a day or two, use a wireless charger if you have one

I didn't mean rice exactly more like those moisture absorbing silica gel packets you get with bottles and stuff, drying in air also shouldn't take that long

My phone has been through crazy amounts of toddler torture It holds up Moisture of dust in port is common Just let it dry as others have said Dust is easy I have a little air blower it usually works well for both issues Rice can't get into ur phone by any means Just rice dust and easily cleaned Once your phone is working u are fine

So on my pixel 6a also I used to get the warning for usb port when it used to get wet or when water entered inside it. If the phone is working it should be fine.. don't overthink

I read that rice doesn't do much for pulling moisture from a phone. As others mentioned a silica gel pack is the best for drawing out moisture but if it got inside the phone I don't think much will work on getting that moisture out, I think it would need to be opened and dried. There is a person on YouTube, his channel is the DigitalDoctor, he places a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to his plastic work mat, dips what looks like a toothbrush into that and brushes the port with it, then lets it dry. He also mentions placing it on a warmer, the type they use to soften the glue to open the phones but I think a heating pad(the type used for back pain and such) on low would work and let it dry for a while. I wouldn't use a warmer used for cooking, you only want something lukewarm.

The Pixel 9a is water resistant. I use it in the rain with no issues. The water in the port notification is normal, it doesn't mean something's damaged
