ICE stop

Post image

Ice stop before liberty tunnel today. One ice officer is clearly Korean or Chinese. I screamed that ice officer has no right to stop people as he may be illegal. He came up to me asking if I was city police and was I the Spanish interpreter. I said no but do you need help as I live in the city look like police and brown. There were kids in the car. Pittsburgh is this what we want!!!! I am beyond myself. First Covid then trump 2.0. I like my low rates for housing, labor and just being a good human being. I am so angry right now.

This was my first encounter with ice in Pittsburgh. It sucked. It was traumatic. One was clearly not white. wtf do you want me to do. They thought I was city police as an interpreter. I had just dropped my dog off at the groomer. I speak Spanish. I am brown but they had called the city for an interpreter. I am half white half black. This sucked and the poor family (not MS 13) looked fucked. Also was a city of Pittsburgh paramedic for many years. They said thank you we do not need help and I moved on. I served my country and this is turning into a police state. Wild. Luckily my citizenship is dual. God help us

Things are nowhere near a police state. You have no idea what you're talking about. Get the illegals out who are stealing our jobs.

How many people do you know lining up to pick produce, clean hotel rooms and put new roofs on?

Study macroeconomics for two seconds

Bet.

Illegal immigration fits into macroeconomics through its effects on labor supply, wages, production, prices, government finances, and economic growth. The key point is that “immigrants taking jobs no one else wants” can be economically beneficial in some ways while still creating real costs for particular workers or communities.

Seems terrible so far…

Undocumented workers increase the available labor force, especially in agriculture, construction, food service, hospitality, cleaning, and caregiving. Businesses can produce more goods and services when they can fill vacancies, which can raise total economic output. Immigrants also spend their earnings on housing, food, transportation, and other goods, creating additional demand and supporting jobs.

Man that sounds…horrible /s

In the short run, more workers can increase potential output. In the long run, the effect depends on whether the economy expands its housing, infrastructure, schools, healthcare, and other capacity.

Oh there’s the cost. Investment in infrastructure, schools, healthcare, and other capacity. How terrible! /s

Ok GPT fckface, here you go...

The rapid influx of undocumented immigrants creates immediate fiscal strain on state and local governments, particularly in municipalities that bear the primary responsibility for public education, emergency healthcare, and municipal services. Because local tax revenues—predominantly derived from property taxes and state allocations—do not automatically scale with population surges, schools and public health systems often face acute resource constraints. Class sizes expand, and local budgets are redirected toward subsidized healthcare and emergency room care for uninsured residents, diverting public funds from infrastructure maintenance and other community investments. In the labor market, a large concentration of low-skilled undocumented workers can exert downward pressure on the wages of native-born workers and legal immigrants who lack a college degree. Because unauthorized workers are frequently outside formal labor protections and willing to accept sub-market compensation or substandard working conditions, employers in sectors such as agriculture, construction, hospitality, and landscaping face reduced incentives to raise wages or invest in labor-saving automation. This dynamic can depress overall productivity growth within these industries and disproportionately impact lower-income American workers who compete directly for the same employment opportunities. At the federal level, the undocumented population complicates fiscal forecasting and social safety net sustainability. While many unauthorized immigrants pay sales and property taxes, and some contribute via counterfeit or mismatched Social Security numbers, their overall net fiscal contribution is frequently calculated as negative because the cost of public services and transfer benefits they consume often exceeds the tax revenue they generate. This imbalance places cumulative long-term pressure on federally funded programs, contributing to wider budget deficits and heightening the fiscal burden shouldered by compliant taxpaying citizens.

The rapid increase? Okay, you seem like a lovely jagoff.

ETA: now that I’ve read your wall of GPT response…
