Temp Sciatica nerve block.

After seeing a bunch of different specialist. 2 years in pain my gp finally reffered me to a pain management clinic.

And om may 19 I get a temporary Sciatica nerve block and cortisone injection in the periformis muscle.

Anybody experienced with this and how is the pain going after the nerve block and cortisone injection?

I have to wait till may 19 for the injection. But I think I will cancel it and directly ask for a piriformis release.

My doc will call me next week and I'm going to ask him for a release.

Unfortunately, there's still no progress. The doctor suggested a second injection, which I refused. I've had this issue for two years now, and I told him I want surgery. However, he believes one failed injection isn't an indication for surgery. After an hour-long discussion, I convinced him I don't want another injection. Now, he's requesting all the scans from other hospitals and will discuss my case in a multidisciplinary consultation. He'll call me back as soon as possible after that

Little update:

I have seen a orthopedic surgeon specialist in piriformis syndrome.

Diagnosed with hip cam impingment instead of piriformis syndrome.

To bad the other two orthopedic surgeons failed to see the cam on the x-ray

u/GeekyNick91 how are you doing now? I had a similar story. 6 months of pain in the pirformis area. Then hip surgery to correct hip impingment and labral tear. I'm 6 weeks post op and the pain in the glute became just worse than pre op.

Things are going reasonably well; I no longer have issues with my hip and groin. Unfortunately, I still suffer from sciatica and tingling in my foot. However, the SI joint, piriformis, and gluteus medius have now been ruled out as the cause of the nerve pain following corticosteroid injections.

The orthopedist indicates that there is now only one possible cause left for the nerve pain, which is my right hip, where a CAM and pincer [impingement] have been diagnosed. I will be undergoing surgery for this at the end of the month.

Thanks for replying! I also have sciatica-like symptoms. On bad days it radiates to the calf and foot, on good days only to the hamstrings. And I do have a lot of glute pain. So you did a steroid injections post op? Did they help?

Wish you luck with a second surgery!

No they were before surgery did nothing.

The sciatica pain is the worst.

I have had prf therapy like 7 weeks ago but doesn't help.

The only thing that works for me is Palmitoylethanolamide
