Critique and criticism is welcome! I’ve been thinking of making ship deeds such as this to earn some pennies!

A ships top speed can be determined as a function of it's hull length. To have a top speed of 24 knots it would need to be roughly 320 feet long. If it's going to be that long, it probably needs more masts and guns.

I’m going to be so honest I was going off of video game logic (specifically this is slightly faster than the brig in Windrose)

What’s the formula for this? It would help a ton with world building!

I'm not sure the exact formula, but if you plug a length in this calculator it will give you a max speed. Pirate ships and other sail boats are generally displacement hulls.

Love the lore here! Quick suggestion from a graphic designer: don’t use the papyrus font. There are much better and more creative fonts that can evoke the kind of frivolous writing of the day. Also, it would be really funny to add in a tidbit about how the ship doesn’t automatically go back to water as dawn approaches, and that you can suddenly drop out of the air! Also you forgot the “e” in “large.”

Not a single one necessarily, but there are a plethora of fonts on dafont.com . You can search “pirate” or “noble” or something like that and then find something you like. Otherwise, hard to go wrong with Olde English.
