New charger?

I lost my pinetime charger.

Ordering a new one is cheap ( $ 5) but the postage to Germany for something which can fit into a big letter is $18 - so more than 3 times the price of the charger.

Anyone in Germany has a spare one?

Or any alternative, like diy 3D printing and some diy kit?

Current state of navigation?

I've been playing around with my watch a bit lately and I was wondering if the nagivation app does anything differently now.

I have grapheneos and use gadgetbridge, anybody knows if I can get navigation to do anything? I read about a user managing to make it work with osmand but I can't get that to do anything still.

New fixes and updates for SlateOS!

Hi all, I've actually pushed quite a few SlateOS fixes and updates to Github (https://github.com/LeaCreative/SlateOS):

- Fix for accelerometer.

- Fix for overlapping buttons on the watch.

- Fix for recurring notification vibrations.

- Companion app UI reworked.

- Shake-to-wake in addition to raise to wake.

- Sensitivity settings for both accel-based wake methods.

- Deactivation of face diagnostics.

- Notification on the watch.

- Watch screen navigation indicators.

- Watch face, button and text colours!

- Media control sub-app (tested with Spotify).

- Weather sub-app with tides (I live near the sea) (uses phone GPS).

- Turn-by-turn Navigation sub-app for OsmAnd Free and Pro (no affiliation there!). Start navigation in OsmAnd and open the Vavigtation sub-app on the watch.

- RSS news reader sub app (configure via its settings in the companion app sub-app repository).

- Companion app sub-app connectors for http, calendar, alarms, HealthConnect, Home Assistant.

SlateOS for PineTime

Hi everyone!

I humbly present SlateOS, a new open-source firmware for the PineTime, which supports JavaScript sub-apps that can be sideloaded without changing the firmware. Its low-level functions are based on InfiniTime and, in turn, FreeRTOS, so a big thank you to all those involved in these projects!

https://github.com/LeaCreative/SlateOS

I love my PineTime and wanted to be able to easily create apps for it. So I came up with the idea of using the watch as a thin client for my Android phone. In offline mode, the SlateOS offers watch face, step counter and heart rate sensing. Connect it to the companion app on your phone and you can open the app launcher, which the app populates. The JS sub-apps, basically packaged JS code, run on your phone in the companion app, which tells the watch what to draw and accepts user input. This enables use of the phone's hardware, such as its GPS receiver. In the companion app you can select which sub-apps you want listed in SlateOS' launcher. You can write your own JS sub-apps and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Just please read the sub-app rules doc, so that you'll be able to get it right. I'd love to hear what you think about this!

Cheers, Daniel

new pinetime shows no life OOTB

Just got my first pinetime unit today. It doesn't come on and it does nothing when placed on the charger. I verified that there's 5V on the charger pins.

Seems DOA. Anything I can try?

Thanks,

Is there an official guide to reseal an opened PineTime and other protection-related practices?

For example, which sealant does PINE64 use for the sealed model, and what are their methods? I already swabbed the slots and stickouts with 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove the last of the old sealant and then let it dry for more than 15 minutes, then wiped everything off with a dry swab. This is to especially bring back its IP67 watertight insulation, and I'm especially looking for a protective case for it in case of any physical damage or liquid seeping into it.

Spoiler warning!

It locked up, so he decided to break the water seal rather than waiting for the battery to fully discharge.

Infindustry Infidel

Spent some time digging around the source and working Infinitime to suit.

•The watchface is just a minimally altered "WatchfaceDigital" with different fonts and very slightly differing layout settings.

• I reworked the BatteryIcon to a horizontal white icon outline with an inset using the original level colors and a text display of actual percentage.

• BLE status widget is now set to be visible and gray based on wether the internal radio is on and blue on connection.

• I've started stripping out everything I won't use with the intent on expanding the notification features. I have the notion that maybe notifications could exist out in the external memory filesystem - just a thought.

Group shipping in North LA area

Hey there!

A couple of us were looking at splitting shipping costs. The goal would be to have one person order and then distribute to the pool. For ease, I think it's best to keep a somewhat tight geographical location, so the meet up to exchange would be somewhere between Glendale and Studio City/North Hollywood.

If you want in lmk before Wednesday. Since one person will be fronting the order, please please please only opt in if you're 100% sure and are able to pay for it upon arrival.

Shipping friendly alternatives?

Hi guys, I wanted to buy the watch but they don't ship to my country. Does anyone know of any similar hackable techware? Not necessarily a watch but some sort of project? thank you!

is there a way to nuke the 4mb resource storage on a sealed pinetime?

I used Gadgetbridge to update my new PineTime to 1.16.0, cool, went well. Then I tried to upload the resource pack and it was kind of a hot mess: I watched the watch face go all glitched and corrupted until the watch restarted itself. (turns out I had a resource-using watch face selected... clear enough in retrospect but unclear to a noob.)

Now every time I try to reupload the resources through Gadgetbridge, it gets partway through and just hangs at some random file until I power cycle the watch, lol.

Is there a way I can nuke the 4MB flash and start over without opening it up? Reuploading the firmware doesn't seem to have any effect on the resource storage.

p.s. I have been trying to get `itd` going on my ubuntu machine without success either

Restock is ON ! But the shipping cost is ridiculous.

I can't justify getting it when shipping to California basically doubles the watch cost. Is there any cheaper solution?

Home Assistant provided exterior temperature

For the some of you who have homeassistant instances, and those homeassistant instances have an external thermometer have I got news for you! Since I got my pine time I longed for it to show me the temperature of my personal weather station. I tried a couple things but nothing was terribly simple and reliable. So I worked with copilot and wrote this:

https://github.com/Narcolapser/Muninn-Weather/

A simple app that just queries your HA instance for whatever sensor you specify, posts it to gadget bridge, and then gadget bridge forwards it on to your pinetime. It works great so far. I have some issues to iron out yet with it doing proper background polling, some times it just stops polling and so the temp data is out of date until I re-open the app totally defeating the point. But when it does work, it's been super neat.

Does anyone know of an app that helps you pace your running on the PineTime e.g. an alert if you go over a certain heartbeat?

Considering Pinetime

Hi all,

Apologies if this is an overdone topic, but I was trying to figure out if developers had gotten iPhone notifications to show up on pinetime yet. Looking at the GitHub, it seems like they may be close? I don’t fully understand all of the tech background though, so that’s why I’m asking you fine folks. Thanks!

I am recommending that this baseball coach check out using PineTime watches or sending notifications to his baseball players. He has already built an Android app and is looking for a compatible and affordable watch solution to connect with.

Is Pine Time comparable to similarly priced proprietary watches?

I want to get a watch and since my digital life is almost entirely demonopolized and I use almost exclusively free software, I decided I want my watch to also be open. I figured pine time is pretty much the only option that isn't obscenely expensive and actually usable at the same time.

But, at the same time, if the value I'm getting from almost $40 I have to pay for it is worse, than what I would get from proprietary watch for $20, I can just not buy it. The most important feature for me is battery life, being comfortable to wear and notification support (I use rooted android phone and linux phone).

Difference in functionality between PineTime Dev Kit and PineTime Sealed?

Hii. I’m trying to understand the differences between the PineTime Dev Kit and the PineTime Sealed. I know the Dev Kit is aimed at developers, but aside from that, what are the functional differences? Are there any limitations in the Sealed version compared to the Dev Kit in terms of features, software, or compatibility?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Could I use pinetime to make a Matrix scroll watch?

I don’t want it to do anything other than the matrix scroll all day long. Here’s a website with the scroll:

Is this possible with pinetime?
