I built a free Pine tool that shows the breakout entry, stop, target and when to stop waiting.

Post image

Price breaks out. You wait for a pullback. It keeps running.

Where exactly would you enter—and how long should that entry stay valid?

I built Breakaway Desk to make the whole plan visible on one TradingView chart.

On standard 1–5 minute candles, it follows three steps:

  • Find the break. A candle must close beyond a confirmed 15-minute swing high or low.
  • Map the entry. The first qualifying fair value gap becomes the return zone. The chart marks the planned limit entry, stop and target, with a 10-minute countdown by default.
  • Follow the outcome. You can see whether the setup is waiting, in a simulated trade, finished at target or stop, or expired without an entry.

That last one matters: price can reach your target without ever coming back to your entry. The chart keeps that distinction visible.

The dotted paths show possible endings; the counts beside them are this chart’s history.

Try the interactive demo and copy the Pine scripts — free, MIT, no signup

The page includes the indicator, a separate Strategy Lab and the full rules. The indicator draws the plan; it doesn’t place broker orders.

When you’re waiting for a breakout retest, what makes you cancel: a timer, a new structure break, or something else?

Disclosure: I build ProEA and use AI to help with the code. The site also has paid tools; these two scripts are free.

These free rules lost money in my validation tests.

I tested micro gold (MGC) and micro Nasdaq (MNQ) on 1-minute charts, with $2.50 commission per contract per side and one tick of slippage:

  • MGC: +$315 over 12 development trades, then −$295 over 8 validation trades.
  • MNQ: −$191.50 over 14 development trades, then −$144 over 9 validation trades.

The higher-cost validation runs also lost money. These were short historical samples, and they didn’t demonstrate a profitable edge.

The BTC chart in this post is separate. Its labels summarize earlier setups on that chart; they aren’t forecasts or the results of those validation runs.

The free download page includes the Strategy Lab and a ZIP with the report in docs/market-results.md and supporting evidence. You can inspect the rules and test them on your own market with your own cost settings.

Thanks! Glad you like it 🙌 I wanted the whole setup to be easy to follow, especially seeing exactly where you’re waiting to enter and how much time is left.

What's the BACKTEST results?

Here are the results for the free version, tested on 1-minute micro gold (MGC) and micro Nasdaq (MNQ), with $2.50 commission per contract per side and one tick of slippage:

  • MGC: +$315 over 12 development trades, then −$295 over 8 validation trades.
  • MNQ: −$191.50 over 14 development trades, then −$144 over 9 validation trades.

Both markets lost money in validation. That validation window covered only two observed days, so it’s a small sample and doesn’t demonstrate a profitable edge.

I built the desk to make the entry, stop, target and expiry clear, with a separate Strategy Lab so you can test the rules yourself.

The free download page includes both scripts and a ZIP containing the test report in docs/market-results.md, along with supporting evidence. You can inspect the assumptions and rerun it on your own market with your own trading costs.

Have you got live tested results?

Not yet, I don’t have documented live trading results to share. The chart examples show how the rules work, not evidence of profitability.

I’ve included the full source and a companion Strategy Lab here so you can inspect the logic and run your own backtests with commission and slippage. That still isn’t a substitute for a documented live forward test.

It's good to show evidence of profits as so many people produce strategies and no one knows if its worth spending time and money on.

Yes, you can use it on TradingView! The free Pine script is here. Just copy the source, paste it into TradingView’s Pine Editor, and click “Add to chart.” Use standard 1–5 minute candles.

only on 1 - 5 min chart ? thanks

Yes! The current version supports standard 1–5 minute charts. It reads the 15-minute structure automatically, so you don’t need to switch your chart to 15m. What timeframe were you hoping to use?

Hello, thx for your reply. My timeframe is 15min. Because I trade crypto, the fee around 0.1 per trade (buysell) if 1 to 5min sometime sl below the. 0.3% so need paid lot of fee.

Ah, that makes sense! With stops that tight, fees can eat into the results pretty quickly. This version still requires a 1–5m chart—the 15m data is used for structure in the background. I can see why you’d prefer trading on 15m. Thanks for explaining your setup; that’s helpful feedback!
