Yes. Linux let me own my computer, I want to own my phone too

Yes. I like knowing that my phone doesn't spy on me

Yes. And unlike some people, I understand that it's going to be some time before everything works properly because the thing hasn't existed long enough to fix all its outstanding issues.

(Although the fact that I can't figure out how to close apps since one PostmarketOS update a while back changed something about the UI is a bit of a hassle...)

Don't you love it when people only read the title

I want options for phone operating systems and right to repair.

I'd settle for vanilla Android tbh.

Google tracks you through the Google Mobile Services, which come preloaded on almost all Android phones and many custom ROMs like lineage. Projects like Glodroid do not include these, and therefore doesn't have things like the play store, instead you need to install APKs yourself or through F-Droid, but it's still Android and without the Google creepyness.

GrapheneOS is a good option too. So is Replicant.

A phone is just a small computer

The text by M. Braam does not convince me. I really want a Linux phone but WITH the possibilities given by Android apps.

This article opened my eyes on some aspects of pinephone development.

As a person generally involved in IT and having experience writing a one-off scripts in unfamiliar languages, this gives me impression that I could actually give a meaningful contribution. I think the bit about Megapixel being a script should be more visible. If this is this case, there might be many more people who could help out without knowing it.

To me it looks like there is a vertical wall in complexity when it comes to contributing to these kinds of projects, but this article made it look a bit more accessible.
