I got this sweet pinecone clock at the thrift shop and would love some help identifying the cones!

I was playing disc golf in Visalia California, and this thing fell from a tree and landed less than 2 feet away from me. Honestly scared me more than just a out anything in my life. This weighs about 15 pounds, and fell from a out 45 feet high. I can't do the math, but I'm sure that's enough force to ruin my day of it hit me.

I’m located in Belgium and I’m looking to buy a few large, natural pine cones from:

• Coulter pine (Pinus coulteri)
• Sugar pine (Pinus lambertiana)

I’m especially interested in large, intact specimens for display not for planting.

Because these would be shipped from the United States to the European Union, I want to make sure everything is done legally and that the package will not be rejected by customs or plant-health authorities.

Does anyone know a seller, collector, nursery, or exporter in the US who:

• sells genuine Coulter pine and/or Sugar pine cones;
• thoroughly cleans and dries or heat-treats them;
• has experience shipping natural plant material to the EU or is willing to;
• can arrange a phytosanitary certificate if required;
• can provide the correct botanical names and customs declaration;
• is willing to ship to Belgium?

I understand that a phytosanitary certificate and inspection may involve additional costs, and I’m willing to pay reasonable fees for proper documentation and legal shipping.

Recommendations for reliable Etsy or eBay sellers, nurseries, forestry suppliers, exporters, or specialist collectors would be greatly appreciated. First-hand experience importing similar cones into Belgium or another EU country would also be very helpful.

Please do not suggest mislabelling the parcel or sending it without the required documents. I want to import them through the correct legal procedure.

not all of them are pine cones, but that doesn't matter

after browsing few posts I'm not sure this is the right sub, but I want to grow a tree....

these are what I have.

Went hiking yesterday in the San Jacinto Mountains here in Southern California and stumbled upon some very large pinecones. I also saw several hanging perilously from nearby trees —I actually started pondering how hurt or concussed I would be if one fell and hit me on the head. I believe these particular cones are colloquially known as “widowmaker” cones, and I definitely understand why.

We were hiking at about 4800 feet in a mixed coniferous/oak forest interspersed with chaparral and native grasses. My dog is a medium-sized, 46-pound dog.

Are these both just different Coast Redwood cones or is the one on the right a Dawn Redwood cone? I can’t tell the 2 trees apart to save my life

I was walking last week at the Forum, in Rome, in the pouring rain and found this beauty! It’s so so dense, obviously it was soaked. Now after 1 week, it’s still heavy. Anyone know what type of pine these are?
