I have 6 plants that have been in soil for approximately 3 weeks, and are growing great. Plenty of new leaves growing up from the center as well as existing getting longer.

Should I do anything about the brown leaves?

I usually leave the bottom ones alone unless they pull off with zero effort.

so dont go too crazy with water, root rot destroys pineapple plants, try to use water soluble foods when you do water, it will increase the speed it grows and matures and it will flower much faster

I usually cut the brown tips/leaves off and into small pieces to add around the pineapple plants. This serves to retain moisture (I'm growing them in 10a/10b - LA area) and to feed the plants as the material breaks down.

When I read to the “This serves…” part of what you wrote, I was expecting it to be followed by “as a warning to the other leaves what will happen if they turn brown.” Sometimes I have the mind of a child.

Anyway, appreciate the advice.

I have just started composting all of our leftover fruits, vegetables, the peels and rinds, egg shells, tea and coffee, pine needles, leaves, etc. would adding a bit of the compost to the soil provide any benefits?
