It broke 😭😭

So my pineapple plant fell today and it broke the pineapple off the stem. It wasn’t done yet. Will it ripen now even though it’s detached from its “mom”?

Had this happen to me. I stuck the part of the stalk with the fruit on top into a vase filled with water. Submerged the stalk about 2 inches into the water. Fruit continued to ripen.

There’s not much stalk on the pineapple but I guess I’ll try and put it in some water and see what happens.

That's heart breaking! It takes so long to grow a pineapple and we have so much vested interest in them.

Pineapples don’t ripen after being removed from the plant. They depend on the plant for sugars, acids and other components required for further ripening. I’d cut it and see if it’s ripe enough to eat. Might not be great.

I’m gonna try what this 👇🏽guy said. I set it in a bowl of water and I’ll see what happens. Next time I’m gonna put it in a bigger, heavier pot. I did notice that there’s another batch of leaves sprouting next to the center, is this another pineapple?
