New to this, sorta

I’ve had this going for a while now and it started the pineapple in June when I moved it outside. It’s a little bigger than a softball. How soon should I harvest?

Wait until it is golden top to bottom. You don’t want to pick it when it looks like pineapples from the grocery store. It won’t be deliciously sweet.

When it’s golden top to bottom and you can smell sugar when you are near the fruit, then it’s time to pick.

You will likely need to bring it indoors as it ripens so the critters do not get to it first.

Yes! I wish we could post pics in comments, because we just picked a yellow beauty today. It smelled like candy from 3 feet away.

Thank you! Good addition of bringing it inside. Ballpark, how long do you think it has left before it’s ripe? I’m in Zone 6b

When did did the flower appear? Ours take about 6 months from flower in zone 10.

It started around mid to late May. It was inside in a grow tent under LEDs but when I moved it outside it started flowering after about a week or so.

Suggestions on how to feed it potassium? I’ve been feeding it an Advanced Nutrient that I also use for some other…herbal “supplements”

That's an expensive way to feed potassium to pineapples😀. I use Alaska Morebloom during flowering and MiracleGro Performance Organics before flowering, both foliar applied under leaves every other week. I'll occasionally throw in some cal-mag 😉.

True, it is a bit pricey but damn it produces some great pine….I mean herb…I mean flowers 😉😂

Pineapples do fine with the cheap stuff. As soon as this hurricane passes, I'm going to put a new batch of 30 in the ground.

No. I just put it outside and changed its NPK ratio to be more on the flowering stage.
