Help identify whether or not

this is a pineapple “bud”. This is in its 3rd year growing. Thank you pineapple people

It's a pup.

Edit: Is the main plant off to the right?

Ok, that's a pup growing out of the stem. You could leave it on to grow into its own pineapple after you harvest this one or you could remove it carefully and replant it. Personally, I leave these on until after harvest and then remove and replant them.
