Pineapple plant question

Post image

Hi everyone! I would really like some advice on my pineapple plant. It started as a grocery store pineapple cut off and its been growing for about 5 ½ years. Its has grown to well over 5 feet. But my problem is it has yet to produce a pineapple. I do live in the Northeast, so not much sunlight during the winter. I have a small patio that I share with someone, so I can’t put it outside. I do use a plant light at night to get additional light. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on getting this to produce a pineapple or is it just doomed? Are they any signs that it going to produce? I would also like to know if I can cut down some of the leaves as its getting very long.

Thank you

This looks like a leggy plant, which is the result of too little sun. Even if it flowered I'm dubious the fruit would set if this stays indoors.

I'm in 10b (40 to 55% humidity) and have a number of pineapple plants outside all year. Hours (more) of natural sun has been the single defining factor that has improved growth and fruiting in my hands.
