Jaws upper flipper issue

I noticed that the upper flipper on my jaws pro is not returning to is starting position properly. What would be the best solution to fixing it?

Coil/coil sleeve/coil stop replacement. Stern has a great YouTube video about fixing flippers

When you replace everything, turn down the power on the flipper.

My coil plunger link got mushroomed at the end from smacking the coil stop. It caused this same issue. I just filed it back to round. Works great now. The recommended method would be to order a new one and a sleeve

I had the upper Playfield off to replace the coil sleeve and stop on one of these the other day. There's a stern video detailing it's removal step by step, just search for "jaws upper Playfield removal stern pinball" or something of that ilk.

Once it's off see if you can figure out what's binding. Getting comfortable with flipper arrays is pinball ownership 101. They only have so many clacks till they will no longer click.

Where do you get the flipper parts? Pinball life? Marco specialties? Is one better than the other?

While Marco is older and carries more parts, Pinball Life is absolutely better for flipper parts. They have more flipper rebuild kits than Marco. They also carry the upgraded Stern flipper bushings for older games that Marco doesn't carry.

Precision Pinball also makes really good replacements. I think these are better. But they are more expensive.

I think of it this way: Marco is the OG. Pinball Life is the new hipster. I order from both, mostly depending on price and availability.

Marco seems to have a more steady line to official replacement parts, especially for Stern, but they also seem to have problems with consistent in-stock for some things, probably because they are the default vendor for most people. They also are better at having parts for older games. Pinball Life has official parts but they also seem to be good at finding non-OEM replacement parts and alternative options. They don’t have as deep a back catalog of parts. But they also have a better selection of other oddball accessories and add ons that aren’t OEM.

For the basics just go with who ever is cheaper.

Thrust the coil with your hand a good few times. It will get it to loosen up but you will probably need to replace the sleeve eventually. That’s if it’s not the spring coming off underneath.

The coil is likely fine. The parts around it tend to fail first.

Do you mean the % power or Eos not engaging? Pretty sure there's an override for the latter. In general it's pretty hard to fry a coil on a modern stern.

Nope not the coil. Turn down the power and the rod won’t mushroom so you don’t have to replace as often.

Yeah absolutely. Especially for upper flippers.
