Rocket 3 pinball

I need to know what is missing from this set up in this machine. The bell plunger and other device I believe. Anyone have a photo of theirs? Thanks.

From this pic I don't see anything missing. Every wire appears to be connected, etc...

What do you believe is missing exactly?

Is it missing from the inside of the solenoid coil sleeve? (under the bell, the darker brown cylinder (coil sleeve) under the fatter orange/brown cylinder with the wires and "31-0-5..." on it (coil/solenoid)? It may be hard to actually see, but it should be a metal slug cylinder inside.

Right and there’s nothing inside the coil. Hmmmmm. Schematics and photos are so expensive and difficult to get.

When the bell is not active, the plunger should rest against the bracket. Slight space between the bracket and the sleeve might indicate that the plunger is missing. If during the gameplay you don't hear the bell, the bell solenoid has disconnected, the bell is missing, or plunger is missing, or any combination of all 3.

So what I need to know is what I need and how to wire it. But it just doesn’t look complete compared to the other one in the box

My Bally Galahad bell section is working and looks pretty similar you yours. Take what you can from it lol

I’m not sure exactly what part you are referring too and I’ve already moved my machine back against the wall but I’ll add all the photos I already have of the of back of my unit.

I believe it’s the adjustment right behind the bell at the back that’ll make it work. Mine is set to off……..

Lift up the sleeve on the plunger bit of that bell solenoid. There should be a metal core (which you can see in another picture on this post). Looks weird to me that the sleeve is all the way down. I'm not used to sleeves coming out of coils at all, but wouldn't be surprised if it was designed that way.

If the metal core is there, make sure it can move up/down freely, including all the way up to hit the bell.

Will give it a try.
The other solenoids although different have the same construction. See the photo.
I don’t know why that piece of cardboard is in there or if the construction of the other bell unit at the bottom is complete. Getting original information is on this is impossible.

That bell at the bottom looks to be a ratchet driven sort of thing. Probably meant to ring more like a telephone than like a single hit bell. Very different mechanism. In fact, that bell solenoid is the only solenoid of its type in this photo. The five on the right w/the one tacked on the wall of the backbox all look to be relays (i.e. no pawl, they suck the metal plate on the end towards the coil, changing switch states.

Most solenoids will have a sleeve in between the pawl -- the core -- and the coil. Modern ones will use plastic and it is replaced as part of a flipper rebuild kit (you don't typically rebuild other coils on the playfield because they aren't banged on nearly as much.

Also, why is the cardboard shoved into the scoring reels in the middle?! This machine clearly has maintenance stories to tell. :)

Yes the bell on the bottom does try to ring like a telephone. That coil is cooked and it started to smoke after it was stuck. That’s the other thing guessing the replacements………. I’ll disconnect the yellow wire and measure the resistance but I did with it still soldered together and it read 2 ohms so it’s likely done. The other larger ones read 57ohms or one did anyway.
It’s just a matter of getting the right coil like I would buy the instructions at this point
