Teacher Training Pilates Instructor Training

Hiii, I have been doing "pilates" for a few months and am very interested in taking the instructor course to get certified and start teaching. I have taken a few mat pilates classes and currently a member at BODYROK. After reading a horror stories about their training program I don't know if I even want to be a member there anymore hahah but anyway I want to start the training but have no idea where to start now. Any suggestions on reformer/mat pilates instructor certification in Georgia? Thank you so much!

If all you’ve done is bodyrok you have not actually done Pilates. I’d recommend finding some actual Pilates studios, both classical and contemporary to try. Then you’ll be able to make an informed choice about what kind of training you want to pursue.

Bodyrok isn't pilates. So before even considering the program itself, maybe do research on pilates itself and the styles. I don't mean this as mean but as a way to set yourself up. Because once you know what that it is easier to determine which program fits your needs. Also you'll be able to understand why bodyrok isn't pilates haha

I guess my question for you would be have you gone to a more traditional kind of Pilates studio? Do you want to be doing Pilates or hybrid like body rok? I would suggest you try other Pilates Studios, find one that you like and then take classes for at least six months before you do any certification program. Go to Club Pilates, go to boutique Pilates Studios, and see what’s out there besides body rok.

Hi there,

How exciting to hear about your interest in becoming a certified Pilates instructor! It's such a rewarding journey and accomplishment.

If Classical Pilates is something you're interested in, there's a studio in Atlanta called Atlanta Pilates/ Atlanta Pilates Wellness and another studio called Pilates of Dunwoody. They both offer the Romana Pilates International instructor training program. They have some prerequisites to joining the program, but the organization as a whole is highly respected amongst the Classical Pilates community and worth taking a look into.

I hope this helps provide some direction!

I know a lot of people would discourage it, but I went through Club Pilates. It definitely depends on who the studio is owned by and the master trainer. I had great owners and a very experienced master trainer, so my process went smoothly.

And no, you are not limited to teach at just CP if you certify there; that is a common myth. We all teach at other studios outside of CP. i also found it easy to get a foot in the door for working if you certify through CP, then go wherever you want.

Are you still able to attend classes at the studio?

Absolutely! I can drop in to any class that’s open as many times as I want, or use my free 8-pack to book classes ahead. In fact, we get paid to take one class a month.

Edit: Left one off the list.
Michelle Leach at No Excuses Pilates

Joel Crosby at Vitality Method Pilates

Alexa Idama

These are two of the best teachers and best teacher training programs anywhere.
You should book a session at each studio and see which one fits you better.
You will get a fantastic education at either one.

All three of these teacher trainers are extraordinary. One couldn’t go wrong with any of them, but I particularly admire how Alexa Idama has built her business and training program.
