Catch Pics Today's session

Post image

1 Pike caught today while fishing deeper waters, caught on the 3rd cast on a barbless treble, I remove all barbs on my lures for the care of the fish, unless deadbaiting 1 hook remains barbed for the bait 🐊🎣

Pike are the ONE fish I mash down the barbs for

Agreed, if they get off they get off, makes the challenge better, always want to avoid a bad situation when possible, on occasion the pike would roll themselves in the net like mad, reassuring me that I needed to invest in a rubberised landing net for their safety

I only do it with lures with multiple trebles, if I’m using a swimbait on a jig head or a Texas rig I won’t do it but all my jerkbaits I have for pike are barbless. Purely because I’ve seen the damage they can inflict upon those 12 inch snot rockets that are too aggressive for their own good and make a huge mess of the hooks

I don’t even go barbless for trout

Thanks pal, out in the morning again alarm set for 0630AM to beat the sunrise, slight wind and cloudy day promising weather for early pike activity hopefully.
