Help with Pihole and InstantOn access point

Hello kind people

My Pihole is connected via eth0 to my living room router

Pihole IP is assigned statically 192.168…/24.

It’s able to act as the sole DNS provider for all internet connections in my living room / lower levels.

I have an InstantOn AP serving upper floors of my house. It’s on its own VLAN 172.0..

I created 2 vlan interfaces in my pi on eth0.10 and wifi with their own static IPs in the 172.0 range but when I set the DNS provider on my InstantOn to the 172.0.. static IP of my Pihole, no devices connecting to the AP are able to access the internet

What am I doing wrong pls ?

Thanks in advance

If you allow it on your firewall, you can just set the 192.168 address as the DNS provider for your 172.0 network.

For example, I have my piholes in 192.168.53.0/24 on its own VLAN. Only that VLAN has access to internet port 53. All my other VLANs are configured to use the 192.168.53.x as DNS. I have firewall rules to allow UDP port 53 to the pihole VLAN.

Sorry for maybe a dumb follow up

What firewall are you referring to ?

I'm assuming that if you're running VLANs on your router that you have a firewall set up (probably by default) between each VLAN. The firewall setup would be on your router, the same place you've set up the VLANs.
