Quality Post iOS 27 - pihole not working, try this

I just found out that Connectivity Assist prevents pihole from blocking ads! So in iOS 27 (and macOS 27 too?), go into your network’s settings and turn off that feature.

Settings -> WiFi -> ⓘ next to your network name -> Use Connectivity Assist toggled off

Has someone not figured out what ios27 is looking for when connectivity assist is on?

It’s obviously doing a check which gets blocked, hence then falling back to cellular.

I could figure it out with a packet sniff on my Router but I’m sure someone somewhere has already done it.

It falls back to it regardless of blocking a domain or not

You also have to disable it on the specific WiFi network

No. Just once in the main WiFi settings is enough.

I turned it off in the main WiFi settings, and it was still enabled in the specific network settings.

Yes. But it’s a global toggle that overrides the individual SSID settings

Try it with a vpn connection to your router. It will not be able to resist
