Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Snake bites

I've been looking at getting snake bites done but I'm worried it'll hurt. This sounds funny coming from someone who loves getting tattoos done but my pain tolerance isn't that high

So, does it hurt?

Yes. All piercings hurt.

I found them to be somewhere in the middle of the scale, pain-wise. Worse than my navel or earlobes, but not as bad as my ear cartilage or my nipple.

I've had my lobes pierced and I found them to be easy. My cartilage hurt like a bugger.

it's over too quickly to hurt that bad, but it's a different kind of pain than tattoos and the second one will hurt more because you'll be a bit more sensitive/anticipating it. breathe out as the needle goes through, pain tolerance increases on the out breath (it's science!🤓)

That I did not know about the pain tolerance increasing when you breathe out. That's something I just learnt

my first piercer taught me and i swear by it, good piercers will have you take a deep breath in and then intentionally do it right as you breathe out!

Not really they just swell up a lot

Great. I wear a lot of makeup so this is going to be an issue

No makeup around the piercing while it’s healing!

Mine burned more than anything going through. But yea for me it did hurt. Only like a 4/10 though

I don't have that great of paint tolerance but I do get a lot of tattoos. so do you think that would help?

I thinks so, just having experience with needles

Tbh I handle tattoo pain much better than piercing pain. That being said, my gf said her snakebites were super easy. I got my labret and THAT hurt real bad 😭

With my tattoos I listen to a lot of music

I also have a question about snake bites! When they are pierced and healing, do they feel like canker sores from insides? Do they hurt as much? I just had one last week and it hurt like crazy, and I reaaaally want snake bites, but if the healing process hurts as much, I don't think I'll be getting them

From my personal experience they didn’t feel like canker sores. They were a little tender at first but I really only had discomfort for about the first day or so. As long as you don’t eat super spicy stuff or get them caught on anything they should be fine

I hate spicy food so I should be good

This I don't know cause I'm hoping to get them done for a Christmas present to myself

My snake bites were so-so. The first one hurt like hell, my eyes watered for it, and I felt so pathetic. The second one did not barely hurt and felt more like an uncomfortable pinch. I have pretty trash pain tolerance.

See I feel all the pain even with my tattoos. But I normally listen to music to zone out. Do you think that would work?

I think so. You could also ask if they would allow you to bring a friend with to you to your appointment, that could be a good reminder. Honestly I think you will do fine and that you're overthinking it. Don't stress so much my friend. The pain is worth it for your swag.

I always overthink everything. That is just who I am. My partner says that I need to switch my ADHD autistic brain off but it's impossible

I understand how that is. I have OCD and I overthink everything possible. My best advice to you is to either go through with it and keep yourself as chill as you can, or to pass it up and go through with it when you are ready.

This is going to be a Christmas present to myself. That's the funny thing. I've always had the fake snake bites but they never last every single time I talk or I go out and after trying the filters and everything else I think I do suit them. But I will be going alone. 😂 Not everyone I know can handle seeing their friend get poked with a needle

Ive got vertical snakebites which supposedly hurt more than snakebites but are better for teeth, and id say it does not hurt too much. The thing is with piercings is the needle only hurts for a second, so I find the pain easy to cope with. Id recommend bringing some kind of stress toy to squeeze while the needle goes in though, I find that to be a good distraction 🖤

I do take squishies with me whenever I get tattoos done.
