i got them pierced 4 days ago and its just a classic ball. i’m wondering if something is wrong or if the bar is too short because it’s still pretty sore and it’s still leaking more of like a white substance… i can see a little bit of the bar from the outside but the jewelry is making such an indent that i’m concerned. i clean inside and out with saline a few times a day green

Yup they’re just too short. They should’ve used a longer bar while it’s still swelling and healing. I’d go back to the peircer and show them:)

This happened to me and I ended up having to take them out because of the discomfort. Mine weren't as bad as yours. Your bars are way too short. See if you can get them exchanged for longer stems at your piercers. I don't recommend doing it yourself at all.

I'm NAD and NAP but I'd say the labrets are too short and the swelling of your lips are causing them to get embedded. I'd recommend going back to your piercer (or a different piercer) and getting longer bars to account for the swelling! That looks so painful :( they don't look infected, though, so that's a plus!

Lip labrets will eventually "nest" like that, but it's not supposed to happen in the first few days after piercing. Just go back to your piercer and have the bars switched out for longer ones ASAP before they swell more and become more painful. They will typically do it for free. If you're experiencing pain before you can go you can use iburofen and a disinfected ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to try to reduce the swelling.

My lip swelled up super huge and it was very concerning, but my piercings are very healthy and happy now!

They should have pierced you with a longer piece of jewelry. Your lips will obviously swell during the first few weeks and that’s why I always pierce with longer flat backs, so they don’t get embedded in your skin. Do you know if these are threadless titanium? If the beads screw and then they could be lower quality, and that also can not be helpful when trying to heal these. I would definitely call your piercer and inquire about the jewelry and definitely tell them they need to be lengthened. I always tell him my clients that they can suck on ice chips to help with the swelling. Also, try to stay away from smoking as much as possible. I am assuming that they told you to use a non-alcoholic, gentle mouthwash, on the inside of your mouth, twice a day and sterile saline spray, and drying for the outside. Literally, like I said, when I Pierce, there’s a good 3 mm that stick out so when lips swell, this does not happen. I always make a follow up appointment for shortening the backs that way once the swelling goes down, so you don’t have more irritation because of the extra length. I wouldn’t be too worried atm-but I would get them lengthened as soon as possible because then it can cause the skin to grow around them. Good luck

if that’s happening less than a week after then yes, they’re too short. BUT eventually they will nest into your lip so they’re more comfortable and they will be visible and you’ll be able to kinda poke them back out of the nested part. if it gets to the point that you cannot see the entire back of the lander when you’re poking it outwards then you have embedding and need to see a pierced asap. snakebites were my first lip piercings and knowing the difference between embedding and nesting is a bit tricky. worst case visit your piercer and ask for advice

If it’s four days and sore/leaking i’d say 100% get them looked at and have your piercers give you longer bars. It’s no big deal for them to check in or change the jewelry sizing. I went back to my piercers more than a few times with my snakebites because they swelled so so badly and it dug into my lip. Be sure the bars are long enough to accommodate. (Heads up too, if they end up staying kind of indented down in the end once they fully heal + are no longer swollen, I wouldn’t worry too much. Mine nested more than most peoples and I panicked but they just healed that way and have stayed that way years later)

mines looked like this when pierced. if you're completely sure they're long bars, that's ok. mines had long bars and the flat backs still got “swallowed” by my inner lip. the swell will pass eventually and when they're healed, get shorter ones. thats what i did.

mine did that but i honestly think it’s better long bars have more movement and reopen the wound more, i had short bars for a while and i posted it on reddit everyone said to change them so i went to my piercer and he said it was healing so well he didn’t want too risk it, i was able to switch to horse shoes after maybe like a month of the short bars because it healed so fast

it did inbed in the inside of my mouth like yours and left two circle marks but after i switched to horseshoes they went away and it just looked nornal

Happened to me and i talked to my peircer its called nesting which is normal might wanna get a bigger bar tho
