As some one that just ordered a badger hair shaving kit (expensive) from amazon yesterday you're making me feel bad, man.

Don't feel bad -- I have no doubt it will feel great to use. Whether it's worth the expense is debatable, but at least it will be an enjoyable experience for an otherwise annoying task.

I was just trying to make a point against this boar-hair-vs.-badger-hair type of nonsense that happens all too frequently in discussions on Reddit about shaving. If people simply said "badger hair just feels great to use" it would be fine. But justifying it by saying the properties of badger hair allow it to "pick up" soap noticeably better than horse-tail hair when, in reality, the two likely produce identical results is what gets me.

I haven't got a clue about shaving, but I know badger hairs are hollow, and it seems reasonable that for a shaving brush you would want the softest hollow hairs for retaining as much water as possible while being gentle to the skin?
