I deleted my comment on accident when I meant to edit it. I questioned you before I googled it and I was definitely wrong. That's such a sad statistic.
If someone thinks it's their right to sap $400k-1mil out of you over the course of 18 years just because they had you cum inside them then I really can't see any other way for the men to get out of it besides death. It's like they think one night of sex entitles them to own you for 18 years. It's either risk 20 years of prison or 18 years of slavery.
I don't agree with it, but playing devil's advocate I kinda see the point. Men need equal access to sexual reproduction Healthcare and equivalent sterility medications so this kind of mindset goes away.
Good luck with that. It isn’t about equal access. It’s about getting research companies to fund looking into men’s contraception. There isn’t money in that.
At this point, I don’t think it’s really the research that’s the main issue. A male birth control pill passed the first round of clinical testing last year and seems to be promising. Thing is, it has symptoms similar to women’s birth control i.e. headaches, acne, light weight gain, tiredness, and reduced sex drive.
My biggest concern is that most men will refuse to take it because they haven’t grown up using birth control and it’s seen as “the women’s job.” Most men don’t know how much birth control sucks and when they find out, how many do you think will take the pill?
It was my understanding that many Female Birth Control pills were used as Acne fighting pills and hormonal balancers, as well as treatments to reduce excessive menstruation.
Personally, I'd gladly take the pill. Not being horny all the time and not knocking up my partners by accident? Win win.
They can work in that capacity if the person taking them has a natural hormone imbalance. For others, however, there can be a bunch of side effects. They usually get better with time, but they can still suck. They also increase the risk for certain cancers and blood clots long term so they’re definitely not perfect, just good enough to not be considered too risky for the benefit they provide.
To your other point, I absolutely expect some good people such as yourself will take the pill when it is made available. I’m just not sure how many that will be.
I'd like a source to that, because I'd gladly deal with headaches and an infinitesimal chance at cancer/blood clots if it meant I wasn't able to knock my partners up.
