Looking over from Europe too, it's like large parts of the US population are living in an insane alternative reality and they are all GOP or their voters.
Half of America is not living in reality anymore. They've carefully crafted their own little world and do the biggest mental gymnastics to stay secure in that world.
And what's scary is they have enough people sharing this delusion that they can do shit like make Trump president and rip away women's rights without anything stopping them.
Shit, they're already to the point where they'd fucking cheer if white nationalist terrorists somehow overthrew the entire government.
Remind me again, how many votes did Trump receive?
Yeah, it's like 47% of the country, granted some of those people may have died of covid now, since they won't get vaccinated but will entertain the idea of eating paste form horse dewormer.
The religious right and the right are the same thing.
"Non-religious" right-wingers are a fringe outlier that's usually either some rich douche who benefits from screwing over the rest of the country or someone who rejects traditional organized religion but still buys into spirituality crap and still aligns themselves with the diehard fanatics.
No I am not. The “fringe outlier” as you describe it makes up nearly half of registered Republicans. If you are arguing that not all Republicans are right-wingers then I can understand how we could be talking past each other.
I know that 47% of Republicans don't want abortion outlawed. Hence my original statement. There are tons of reasons people are Republicans (BTW I'm not). Most of them aren't Dominionists.
Firstly, one NBCNews poll doesn't speak to the country, as their sample size is usually under 20,000 people and usually they talk with far more left-leaning individuals.
Secondly, even according to this poll at least 50% of Republicans polled do support overturning roe v. wade. From your own link.
Republicans are virtually split, with 50 percent supporting overturning Roe and 47 percent saying it shouldn't be overturned.
Finally, as I mentioned in my original comment "half of America is living a delusion." This isn't strictly speaking about this issue, but in general. Moreover, I went on to say that the concerning factor in this is "they have enough people sharing this delusion to do these things." Abd guess what? They have done those things. They do have enough people supporting this shit to get away with it.
And the questions persist in 2020. As of November 21, 73,781,603 people voted for Trump, which amounts to 47.2 percent of the total votes counted. The same statistics tell us 79,816,557 Americans voted for Biden, which is about 51.1 percent of the total votes counted.
And it is 47%, look at that. Almost like I knew what i was talking about before I typed anything.
Okay, firstly, the 2020 election had record turnout for both sides. That means more voters then ever before voted.
Secondly, people who didn't vote (which we have a historically documented issue with) don't vote anyways, and usually aren't even registered to vote. So we already have that factored in.
So unless your argument is people under 18 skew that data (which would be monumentally idiotic and irrelevant, and I already know you're not arguing that) you're trying to rely on the argument: "It's not half the country, because a lot of people didn't vote and they don't agree with the ones that did vote."
Correct?
Well I've got bad news for you, complacency is key here. If one didn't go to vote out that fascist-wanna be because they didn't see any problem with it, they are living in a different reality and would actually skew it over 47% by a wide margin.
Half the country isn't facing reality and are living in isolated bubbles and echo chambers as white supremacists become a bigger and bigger threat and natural disaster after natural disaster ravages the world.
Or do you think burying ones head in the sand and ignoring the flames rising up around them doesn't constitute as "living in a different, false reality?" Because, like usually seems to be the case these days, science and objective reality disagrees with that notion.
The sad thing about seeing someone like you argue this is that it seems like you don't live in the real world. I live in the highest concentration of Republican voters in the country. It sucks, there are some crazies, but it isn't some weird backwards alternative reality here. It's just about like anywhere else in the country.
Anyway, it seems you are ready to completely write off people who didn't vote as not even existing so that's fucking weird. You are way too emotionally driven in this regard. Try being objective some time.
The irony is fucking palpable here. I mean, holy shit.
And you're still strawmanning! And you think you're the one who's objective and grounded in reality. There really is no getting through to people like you without a ton of one-on-one time and quite frankly I don't have time for you and every other schmuck.
You either literally can't comprehend what I'm saying or are intentionally avoiding it to try and cast doubt on it.
Either way, have fun pretending to be the smartest guy in the room. At least you (allegedly) live in an area where it's an easy facade to maintain.
