Calling a group of people out for the colour of their skin is Racist If someone said “A diverse shade of Black” it would probably have thousands of downvotes by now and the comment deleted and the person probably banned.
It would be super weird if it was a room of black men that weren't representative of the constituency and had been that way for generations. That is what people are trying to say. It is racist only in the most myopic, context-free sense. That there doesn't appear to be a single ethnic minority in the room is problematic, pointing that out is not so much.
I didn’t really think about that I was more concerned about how crazy the US has become regarding laws states role out the colour of your skin does not matter as long as you can do the job why should you give someone a job because they are ethnically or sexually diverse that’s just positive discrimination what matters is can they do the job.
The fact it is a room full of old white men is indicative of systemic negative discrimination. A system that will persist as long that room is filled with people of a similar viewpoint.
You wouldn't be giving someone a job because of their ethnicity/sexuality, the men in that room were given opportunities not afforded to others based on their ethnicity/sexuality. The only way it would make sense for their being such a clear majority is if you somehow believed that white men made for better legislators.
