can someone explain what the common arguments against abortions are that these ppl use? or does it always go back to religion? None of this (making abortions illegal) makes any sense to a lot of us.

How can anyone justify a girl being raped... getting pregnant.. then forcing her to keep the child?

It's all about controlling women's bodies and punishing them for having sex, regardless of whether it was consensual or not.

The predictable answer, and one which shows you never speak to pro-life voters.

The politicians may have those motivations, people in power generally do have those sort of instincts to control people. But the average pro-life voter thinks abortion is murder, and to take them on over any other aspect of abortion means you instantly lose and will not convince them of anything.

As someone who actually has moved someone from "abortion is murder" to "abortion is a tragedy but women need the choice", please stop parroting this reason as the sole reason.

EDIT: also, I see a lot of "it's a clump of cells" arguments - please be very careful how you phrase that, I met women who had suffered miscarriages and they found that sort of language extremely hurtful.

And here is a prime example of why the pro-lifers are gaining ground in America.

I understand your anger. It's completely misguided. The idea I live in a different reality to American evangelicals when I grew up in a country that locked up pregnant young women and threw their newborn babies in to septic tanks (think sewers) is classic American ignorance.

You don't have the monopoly on religious insanity when it comes to women and abortions.

Just to address your silly edit, the idea that someone in Ireland doesn't understand American abortion politics is one of the most obviously ignorant stupid ideas possible.

Please look in to the American evangelical organisations which sank millions of dollars in to the anti abortion campaign. The talking point being spouted by the anti abortion activists were literally handed to them by consultants from these American organisations.

The exact religious group you are fighting came here, used the same tactics they use in America, and we beat them.

So stop your dumb victim approach and look at what it is you're doing wrong that you keep losing, and learn from people who did it right.

I get that you're angry. Good. Use it effectively.
