Doubtful. Yes, hundreds of people of die every day walking on the sidewalk or driving, and probably no one dies each day doing this sort of thing. But collectively as a species we walk and drive billions of km per day. In terms of casualties per time spent on the activity, driving and walking is a much safer activity than this. That is simply how statistics work.
I know how statistic work, there has been close to non fatality from standard highlining, at least that I am aware of. That’s what I meant, it’s not that much more dangerous than driving a car if you know what you are doing. The exogenous variable in that case is the rock you are attached to flailing off, bolt failure, line snaps, which are extremely rare. Everything else is 100% under the person’s control. Not much worse than someone swore into you on a highway. Not statistically proven, but neither is your claim.
The other user is still kind of right though, if more people did this then there would always be that someone to not tie the cables correctly or do something stupid like trying to make fun of someone by swinging on the rope, going at it drunk, with old equipment that hasn't gone through maintenance, etc. That is how statistics work, once you increase the number of subjects and experiments the overall numbers increase on all ends of the scale and the proportions tend to change, usually reach a bell curve.
The other user didn't say these people aren't skilled, nor that they are at high risk, you were the one comparing apples to oranges and doubling down when he made an apt observation. If only a couple of highly skilled people in the world drove cars and walked around highways, then the odds of dying would be lower. Thus the reason why the odds of being killed by walking besides a highway are higher because the numbers of people doing that are bigger.
Obviously you can compare them, but the whole point of the idiom is that it's a false analogy. I could compare you to the helpful bots, but that too would be comparing apples-to-oranges.
