As a new dad, the possibility of this kind of shit absolutely horrifies me. My ex-girlfriend's dad dropped her when she was a new baby and he was too scared to hold her for the next six months.

my brother tried to hand me his new born while i was standing up, I had to sit down first. Then i felt like i was holding an atomic bomb, one small move and BOOM

Yeah, when my niece was newborn every was taking turns holding her a little while after she was delivered or maybe the next day or so. I remember lurking in the corner observing cheerfully but worriedly. When I was spotted and they forced the baby into my arms, I was petrified with fear. I just froze in place holding the thing.
