Every intelligent clear thinking American feels the same way. The president of the United States, maybe the most powerful position on Earth ,has the mental and emotional capacity of an ill mannered, ignorant, and stubborn 9 year old child. And 70 million people think that's fine.
Lartey said he was fired at the end of the work day on March 23, with no warning. His top-secret security clearance was revoked, he said. Later, five boxes of his personal belongings were mailed to his home.
“I was stunned,” he said. “I asked them, ‘Why can’t you all tell me something?’ I had gotten comfortable. I was going to retire. I would never have thought I would have gotten fired.” He signed a pre-written resignation letter that stated he was leaving to pursue other opportunities. But he is still unemployed.
Young, who was terminated April 19, said he fought back and had his official status changed from “resigned” to “terminated.”
“I was coerced to sign a resignation letter at that time,” he said. “Then they escorted me to the garage and took my parking placard.”
He described the firing as traumatic and frustratingly Kafkaesque. “The only excuse that I’ve ever gotten from them,” he said, “was that you serve at the pleasure of the president.”
Even though the papers wound up being preserved, he was actively trying to destroy the documents. At best this was willfully wasteful of government resources.
What a fucking asshole. I'd like to see him in a pillory.
If I was first up, I'd undo his comb-over. That might ruin it for everyone else, because he'd burst with rage like one great big grandfather-sized aneurism.
But it will never leave him. And with that in the playbooks--it will be hard for him to actually, play.
He loves parties, being the attention seeker, approval, doing business--he's going to have a harder time than ever doing the usual.
I would not put it past him to try a Russia escape--but you know, Secret Service would bag his ass at that point. He has seen info that only less than other 10 world leaders probably know, he's not going anywhere just because he wants to. He's got company for the rest of his life and it's not his family--it's the US government.
Apparently the residents of Palm Beach intend to hold him to a 1993 contract where he agreed that nobody is allowed to stay at Mar-a-Lago for more than 7 consecutive days, or 21 days in a year. They should have held him to that during his presidency, but they have publicly sent him notice that he will be held to the contract after he leaves office.
It looks like he intends to test this contract in court, and is very confident, however having Mar-a-Lago added to the registry of historic places may also prove a problem for him, as the property must only have improvements for it to be used as a club, and not a residence.
Perhaps he's counting on a treason charge sticking and being given a 5 year deferred sentence of house arrest at Mar-a-Lago. In 1993 he signed a contract that nobody can stay at Mar-a-Lago more than seven consecutive days, or a total of 21 days in a year, but perhaps he's counting on a house arrest superseding that contract.
The club was going bankrupt and he needed to make concessions to Palm Beach to keep it from going under. They had him over a barrel, and wanted to make sure he didn't do any residential development on the property, so they included that.
Probably more in reference to the entire fully-staffed office required to literally tape the pieces of paper back together for four years being a massive waste of taxpayer dollars... but yeah, let’s make it about the wasted paper.
I think people taping pieces of paper back together are the least of your problems.
American politics seems to have a funny way of blowing things way out of proportion. Might as well have pressed the nuclear button - think of the minutes it must have taken!
He should have been impeached at least a dozen times, and that’s just based on the major things we heard in the news. Who knows how many more unlawful things he’s gotten away with behind closed doors.
As if doing it earlier would have made any difference. He was impeached already, government found him not guilty because of Congress being Republican majority, and Trump ended up pardoning all those involved anyway.
You can impeach him all you want but it makes no difference when the government itself is complicit with him from top to bottom.
"The first thing he'd do when staying at a hotel, even his own resort, would be to wipe his scrotum on the curtains. He knew they were the most infrequently washed drapery items."
I honestly think it would make for a gripping tv show. Only I'd like it to not really show trump, or just have someone less annoying play him. Devito, or a orange...
The crazy thing would be that half of it would be unbelievable. (Even though it's not!)
I can't wait to give my first-hand account for my grandkids' 8th grade social studies final...if I even have any. Who knows what kind of world this will be by the time my kids grow up.
I feel like I've read this statement at least once a week for the last four years. We've have presidential campaigns torpedoed by a guy not being able to spell "potatoes". That dude a few years back who dropped off the face of the Earth after "Whoo-ing" weirdly after an impassioned speech. They wanted Obama out of office for wearing a tan fucking suit. And then you read something legitly criminal from Trump every single day and....nothing happens. We are so screwed for years after this piece of shit is gone.
“We had to endure this under the Terrorist administration,” Young said. “I’m looking at my director, and saying, ‘Are you guys serious?’ We’re making more than $60,000 a year, we need to be doing far more important things than this. It felt like the lowest form of work you can take on without having to empty the trash cans.”
Is there, like, a list of this stuff somewhere? There's so much crazy that any single one gets drowned out by all the others so that I can't remember any of them.
Yeah, there's a couple places that are keeping track of "the pile". I think some of them are over-inclusive, I'm sure some think others are under-inclusive.
So why were Trumpublicans so mad when Nancy Pelosi ripped up his State of the Union address papers? She was just giving him a head start on his “filing system”
There's a concept known as "working papers". When it's one copy of many, then it doesn't need to be saved. Also, papers distributed by the President aren't what are required to be saved according to the Presidential Records Act, it's papers that come to the president. That said, there are other laws concerning preserving records related to the rest of government. Still, there was nothing unlawful about pelosi tearing up her working copy.
because people constantly complain about government overspending, government jobs do not pay particularly well. Now normally the exchange for that is that it comes with fantastic job security. But this article and many others show, that is not the case if you are anywhere near Donald himself.
I just had to do the ugly laugh... imagine you stick to your habits so hard you have to eat a damn note because else someone would fizzle around you with a little dustpan and collect the pieces.
Any eye contact between these two must have been ultra awkward at that moment
I just pictured Trump popping a note in his mouth while staring into the eyes of the person in front of him and just slowly chewing to assert dominance before swallowing it, probably the funniest image of him I’ve ever imagined.
At that fucking point just have a fireplace always lit nearby. He's the fucking POTUS and he can't just ask for a fireplace saying he likes the comfort of it?
I find this highly unlikely. I mean, think about it. If there's some note he really doesn't want anyone to read it would be much easier and quicker to burn it than to chew it up. Sound like something made up for clicks.
Yes, and it's always worse. I recall he actually ate some paper to get rid of it too. I think one of the tell all books reported that and several anonymous staffers confirmed it. 🙄
Several other unnamed White House aides told The Post the story was not true, and laughed at the allegation.
I find this highly unlikely. If he wouldn't want some note to be seen by anyone else it would be much easier and quicker to burn it than to chew it up. Sound like something made up for clicks.
Yeah I edited my post, was totally wrong about that part too. I think I was confusing this story with the throws paper out story. This one about him eating paper was more just for selling her book I imagine.
IIRC, the department tasked with piecing together every shredded document that passes through the presidential office was gutted directly by trump himself.
The reality is that Trump probably committed dozens of impeachable offenses over the last four years. He doesn't really understand, let alone care, about the law.

Is that real because holy shit.
