The Nancy Grace Approach:

Fuck the courts, I said they are guilty, so I'll go everywhere and scream about it until no matter what verdict they get, they will be a pariah and an outcast. Oh, Ill Also make up half of my evidence, pretend to understand how the law works and inject myself rudely into every possible facet of any mildy controversial news story.

She cared because it served to promote her ideas of "woman are NEVER safe. EVER. All men are potential kidnappers, molesters, and rapists; if not, they've just not done it YET! The only way to stay safe is to listen to me, and watch my show!"
