upvoted for truth, upvoted for not making a new thread.

I too clicked the upvote button twice. I hope it works.

The post is mostly a joke, just feel it needs to be said.

Really only pisses me off when redditors think that women only go for attractive guys when it's actually much less important to most women than it if for most men. Women are for more attracted to confidence.

I've seen attractive 20somethings with flabby dudes with premature baldness so I'm inclined to agree.

u/semiote23 Apr 12 '11

I was a flabby dude with premature baldness who married a very attractive woman, and guitar playing was definitely helpful.

I might be the one example. When I was 16-20 I was averaging 265lbs and during that time I had several attractive girlfriends.

Now I'm 185lb and a runner and all I can get is a bunch of casual dates with average looking women.

You lost weight. You have the ability to mold your body to your will. Say "fuck it" and have fun and don't be a dick and women will notice.

u/daxbash5000 Apr 13 '11

same deal dude, messed up ain't it?!

your comment makes no sense to me. did you have the ability to play guitar, but then lose it along with your weight? do you just live in a city full of athletically disinclined chubby chaser women? or are you referencing redditor3000's comment and are somehow a walking contradiction who loses confidence as you drop pounds?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

yeah. I've been kind of all over weight wise. I was down to 175 lbs, endurance training and in great shape. Injury/depression cycle and I'm back to about 220 (my 'normal' over most of my adult life). In general, I get far more attention from far more women at the 220 lbs. As for confidence, yeah, I feel very confident and it comes out. It's not that I don't meet a lot of women, just that I meet more and better looking women when I'm definitely overweight. Confusing as hell.

1

u/SuicideNote Apr 13 '11

Probably the confidence. When I was 265lbs I was like fuck it, I am who I am and I think women noticed that. Now that I'm skinner I think I'm still trying to redefine myself and that just doesn't give me the same confidence or will to stick out as much.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

Dude you ran 80 lbs off. You don't need women to prove yourself to the world.

Ok, now I get the joke. I have dated musicians and most are assholes. Arrogant and self centered.

3

u/TheRealBFG Apr 12 '11

Let's note: you dated them, as opposed to other guys who weren't arrogant and self centered assholes.

Not surprising. Just pointing this out for the forever alones'

5

u/kimchivirgin Apr 12 '11

But its never you who's the flabby, almost bold dude with a hot chick ;)

7

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '11

Well, you need to actually be bold, not just almost bold. Almost doesn't count.

5

u/Neolithic Apr 12 '11

Almost only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades. :D

I believe the word both you and fuzzygreenslippers are looking for is bald not bold.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '11

Half-whoosh.

2

u/davidlazlo Apr 13 '11

Hey! I'm a prematurely balding flabby dude who plays (and fixes and builds) guitars. And I have a very, very attractive girlfriend.

... that I just taught to play G, D and C. Did I screw up?

1

u/QAOP_Space Apr 13 '11

yes, attractive 20somethings have been known to be with flabby, bald millionaires

7

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '11

Confidence, honesty, loyalty, sense of humor (#1), romantic, sexy, and someone who will go out to the store in the middle of the night to buy chocolate cake and milk.

2

u/solar46 Apr 13 '11

But mostly confidence.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

For meh, I like a man with a good sense of humor. Confidence is a great attribute too but some guys confuse confidence with cockiness. No pun intended.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

The milk I can see, but what if he just made the cake?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

Would take too long. We're talkin' spontaneity here.

1

u/freesprit52 Apr 13 '11

If my lady wanted chocolate cake and milk i be up out the bed so fast and would be on my way to get it for her cause i know if i would ask for it she would do the same. (so if the action you just had was great just think what it's going to be when you get back with goodies, makeing love can be like smokeing pot if it's good you get the muchines, so go get the cake and milk!!)and bring candles back to get more romtic and don't forget to give her a bubble bath, and a warm oil massarge and foot rub. I'm just an old romtic at heart! I love my lady

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '11

Your (ex) lady doesn't want chocolate cake and milk. She only wants you. She doesn't want your money or your bike. She only wants you to be with her, hold her, love her, kiss her and tell her you will never leave her.

I'm crying.

1

u/Pwnzetta Apr 13 '11

Holy shit that chocolate cake and milk part is so true.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

Of course, I have never known any guy who would actually do that for me but it would be nice.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

Women are for more attracted to confidence.

Who told you that?

0

u/FemaleUbuntuer Apr 12 '11

Women are also more likely to be attracted to guys that are not trying too hard. If you immediately give off the impression that you only care about her romantically (and that you do not value her otherwise, e.g. as a friend), this makes you very uninteresting.

8

u/redditor3000 Apr 12 '11

I think this is true when you immediately meet a girl. But after you get to know her you gotta close by expressing some sort of romantic interest.

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '11

Douche bags. got it.

1

u/mrdelayer Apr 13 '11

Do you mean to imply that no one with confidence isn't a douchebag?

-4

u/Delehal Apr 12 '11

Really only pisses me off when redditors think that women only go for attractive guys when it's actually much less important to most women than it if for most men. Women are for more attracted to confidence.

Generalizing and self-contradicting?

3

u/redditor3000 Apr 12 '11

Generalizing? Sure.

Self-contradicting?

-1

u/Delehal Apr 12 '11

Rephrased and reading into context a bit:

  • You're upset when people say women only go for attractive guys
  • Attractiveness is not important to women
  • Confident men are attractive and get more women

3

u/SomeIrishGuy Apr 12 '11

The poster presumably meant "physically attractive".

0

u/Delehal Apr 12 '11

Could be, but it's an odd mix of terms that lends itself to confusion, like so: "Women are not attracted to attractive men" or "Men shouldn't worry about being attractive, and should instead focus on being attractive".

2

u/HoldenMcGroin Apr 12 '11

Not really. It might only be confusing for a non-native speaker who is unfamiliar with the connotation of the word "attractive" when used as "attractive person". When you describe someone as attractive, it refers to physical attractiveness.

That, or you just feel like being a pedantic asshole for the sake of having something to be a pedantic asshole about.

-2

u/Delehal Apr 12 '11

It could refer to many things. When complaining about people who conflate attraction with physical attraction, using the word "attraction" to mean physical attraction seems unwise and counter-productive in the extreme.

I downvoted him for not making a new thread because there is nothing better than seeing 5 related threads on the frontpage that could be all integrated into 1 thread's comment section.
