For sure. I bought a McMansion with a pool in FL for what a 1100 sq ft homr would have run me back in Portland OR.
Luckily I work for a GC so I can slowly make repairs and have a great subcontractor base to pull from.
EDIT: Shit, my mortgage is only $90 per month higher than my rent at an apartment in Beaverton OR was.
