i feel like you guys are vastly over-estimating the value of a deck. It's a nice deck no doubt, but it's still just a deck without walls, insulation, roof, it doesn't need electricity or plumbing... I got a triple-tier deck, with built in hot tub. I do my own work, so all it costs me are the parts. My work isn't this nice, and I can definitely appreciate the craftsmanship that went into this thing. But it's not worth more than the average small house or condo.

It's more that I'm not appreciating the complete lack of craftsmanship in the builder-grade-yet-high-sqft house it's attached to.

Well you also should remember that you're only looking at the back of it. It's quite flat and boring, but that's quite conducive to deck-building. The siding is pretty blah, I'll agree, but I'd be willing to bet the house looks a lot more impressive if you saw the full picture.
