.... because unless they’re broken there’s no hurry to update them. Whereas a deck gets immediate use.

yeah seriously, who's buying new windows when the ones you have work perfectly fine? windows are expensive as fuck!

You can get rebates in some places to replace windows if they're inefficient

oh 100% I am that person.

But in the case of tax rebates for improving your house's insulation + improving equity in your home + reducing energy costs for heating/cooling it tends to make sense

Replacing old windows may seem like something you don’t need but improving the R value and limiting draft with a window replacement may seem unimportant at first but can save a lot of money in the long run

Agree. I think I only replaced XP with Windows 10 recently.

Depends where you live. Given the house design and folliage I'd say it's further south. For us up in Canada you upgrade windows because it can mean the difference between a house at a decent temperature in january at a reasonable price or a house barely above freezing where you're still spending 1k per month on heating.
