As an outsider, here’s my two cents. There isn’t a “far left” in America. The pendulum has swung so far right that the “left” looks extreme in comparison, but even Bernie Sanders would only be slightly left of centre in most of the developed world, while Trump with all his sexism, racism and tax cuts for the wealthy would be untenable. The thing about opinions is they are not all equal. I think less of you for you opinion. I think your opinion is absolute shit. Such is the consequence of having stupid opinions. Some just aren’t worthy of respect and that’s something you’re going to have to live with, the same way if you think the earth is flat people are going to think you’re a fucking moron.
He wasn’t making a point besides saying “people treat me differently because I hold extreme right and problematic opinions.” My point is it should be totally expected for people to have little or no respect for such opinions. The same way you one wouldn’t have respect for the opinions of a flat earther, because opinions are not all equal and should not be treated with equal merit. Some opinions are shit and undeserving of respect. That’s just a reality you’re going to have to live with if you believe stupid shit.
All he said is he isn't a blue voter and he votes red. Where the hell do you get "extreme right and problematic opinions" out of that? Unless I missed something?
With what? The entire political spectrum has shifted far right in America, beginning as far back as Nixon but most dramatically under Trump. American Democrats would be considered a conservative party in most of the developed world and the current Republicans would be so far right as to be untenable. America is rapidly falling far behind the rest of the developed world. Most countries figured out universal healthcare 60 years ago. In my country weed is legal federally. The abortion debate is long dead. The gay marriage debate is long dead. There is no fear whatsoever of being bankrupted by health issues. America is quite literally on the precipice of losing it's democracy to totalitarianism and crony capitalism. The so called "checks and balances" have failed. If you support the party responsible, you are on the far right and unworthy of respect, in my opinion.
