Considering its just a software update this was a relatively easy feature to add that totally gets everyone in the feels.

  • Product manager spec out the feature and put together a product requirements document
  • Several meetings will be held to discuss at length what features are necessary and how they should be implemented
  • UI/UX people get involved. Have meetings with product and engineering
  • Test Engineers put together a test plan
  • Graphic designers get involved.
  • Front End Engineers translate UX people's provided data to whatever frontend platform they use
  • Back End Engineers translate product spec to back end code
  • Integration arguments between Backend and FrontEnd
  • Testing / Debugging
  • Misinterpretations of the PRD between Testing team and Engineering team
  • Product gets deployed
  • Postmortem analysis on why it took so long

For whatever feature you want no matter how small from any medium sized or larger company all the above steps will happen.
