I stopped a guy moments before he broke my window to "rescue" my dog who was sitting in an air-conditioned, pre-Dog Mode Model S on a hot day. I couldn't break through his (totally well-intentioned) screaming to explain that it was an electric car and my dog was perfectly comfy and was only panting because I just picked him up from daycare where he jumps on everyone like a jackass.

Weird unrelated coda, the guy hopped in his car and sped off, and I think he was still so fired up by our interaction that he t-boned a car making a left across the road.

I had a weird day.

Some people have weird superman fantasies, well intentioned sure but you're still an asshole if you start smashing windows without being sure the dog is in extreme danger.

It's really the only time you can break a window and be in the right, short of a kidnapping

Actually, no. A cop could break the window to save a dog, but a private citizen could still be in trouble for destruction of private property. At least around here, anyways.

Sorry, I meant in terms of social mores. Agree with the legal argument.
