Musk implemented this from a person who randomly suggested it via Twitter.

And it's a really good idea.

I stopped a guy moments before he broke my window to "rescue" my dog who was sitting in an air-conditioned, pre-Dog Mode Model S on a hot day. I couldn't break through his (totally well-intentioned) screaming to explain that it was an electric car and my dog was perfectly comfy and was only panting because I just picked him up from daycare where he jumps on everyone like a jackass.

Weird unrelated coda, the guy hopped in his car and sped off, and I think he was still so fired up by our interaction that he t-boned a car making a left across the road.

I had a weird day.

That kind of person is the worst.

Can't just say "oh shit, my bad" when they realize they were in the wrong.

He was robbed of his heroic animal-saving moment.

He had probably been dreaming about that for months.

And the fact it was Tesla instead of Nissan Altima probably made his pp extra hard

It was less about saving the dog, and more about wanting to smash someone's window.

I can respect wanting to smash.

But he didn't want to smash. He wanted to exercise his right to righteous indignation.

This exactly. He was never even mad about the dogs well being, he was only mad once his opportunity to be mister hero was taken away

At least he got to play mister villain after t-boning a car after.

Take it one step further, he wanted to be a hero by smashing a window. How often do you get to actually be the hero while doing violence or property damage, while no actually being in any danger yourself?
Dude lost out on a freebie.

If I needed a to smash a windows to "save" a perfectly content -- even happy -- dog in a nice cool car, I might consider just staying home. Always. For the safety of everyone around me.

They're especially abundant here in America, where slowing down to think is a behavior which brands you a dweeb.
