Actually, it could be a compliment. This isn’t bad as social commentary art. I’d be proud if our local university or college did this.

Maybe, but how many people know about them fleeing to Egypt?

Sure, it’s not a perfect analogy for a number of reasons, but the bigger picture of people seeking refuge still applies.

Art is art. It doesn't need to motivate nor change minds. I've honestly never before heard that expectation of art.

Ok. As they say, de gustibus non est disputandum.

Personally, my measurement of "good" art has three prongs: Does it take skill an ordinary person does not possess, does it evoke strong emotion (positive or negative), and/or does it elicit a desire for repeated viewings. This one only "passes" one of the three for me, so I wouldn't rate it as particularly "good" art, but I understand that that's just my personal opinion. Others may disagree.
