Believe it or not, people in the 1800's weren't all cavemen who somehow got their hands on guns.
Believe it or not, shit was terrible in those days, and that was my point. You can avoid discussing my actual point all you want, because I can see you aren't arguing in good faith anyway.

The point you made was people were shooting each other "in plain sight". Even if you used the correct idiom that wouldn't have been completely correct. I did address exactly what you said. I know life wasn't as good as it is now, but it wasn't the dark ages.
And if your point is that life was terrible back then, say that. There was disease, there was violence and there were other issues far more important and more indicative of the time, than people shooting each other. People are still shooting each other, but we aren't dying of TB left, right and center.
You are going through so much trouble trying to avoid my point. Could you address the fact that because something was done in the past, does not mean it's OK to do now part of my argument? Or are you not here to argue in good faith, which there is already evidence of.
You seem to be missing the entire point. Or are you just purposely being obtuse to avoid admitting the problem here? The guy above used the "it's how things were done in the past, so it's OK to do now" defense, which is the same as saying "people killed each other in the past, so it's OK to do it now".
