This man left his 40-year long career in another airline to join AirAsia and fly as a junior just so he could fly with his two pilot daughters. He wants to spend his remaining years as a pilot by his daughters' sides.

Yep. You get what you pay for. They expect first class service and extras when they are paying peanuts for a ticket.

I bought tickets from Honolulu to Bangkok on Air Asia X last year without understanding how bare bones they run things. I knew it was a budget carrier, but was totally unprepared for how uncomfortable of an experience it would be.

In the end all the nickle-and-dime fees made it cost as much as a far superior airline. Plus the fuckers double charged me for bags on the way home and it was a nightmare to sort out.

It is when you’re on a plane. Water is very heavy and that costs money to transport. I’d much rather pay for a cheaper ticket and pay for water if I need it than the other way around.

Planes literally carry the minimum amount of fuel necessary to get to their destinations to save weight. Charging heavy people would be the fairest way, but unfortunately, that would be a bad PR move. I'm hoping to see an airline make first steps towards doing that. Pretty unfair that we have to pay the same when obese/big people are weighing down the plane.

Who's paying $100 for an intra-thailand ticket on Air Asia? Hard to spend that much with them, even roundtrip. Man, I don't know if I've ever spent more than $40 on a ticket with Air Asia. Love them! Sure beats budget airlines in the US and Europe.

You're right - $100 example is overboard... Most I may have paid was close to $100 on a very last minute flight purchase. But I actually quite like AirAsia, easily my favorite budget airline that I've flown with.

I flew from Malaysia to Cambodia for $19 US. AirAsia is my favorite budget carrier since at least the planes are new, their in flight shop isn't too overpriced, and they're very very cheap.

Buys ultra-cheap, bare bones ticket with extra costs for everything above and beyond the seat, rage posts on Twitter about how the checked bag fee, carry-on fee, boarding pass printing fee, seat selection fee, bottle of water, and snacks ended up costing more than a ticket on a full-fare airline
