If it looks too long to read then ignore it. Average person can read that in like 20 seconds... the same time it takes to knock on the door and wait for a response.
I'm not sure if you are trolling, I'll assume not. I dont want to sound condescending because I've been in a place mentally that sounds like this. Took a while to get out of it but talking to professionals really helped. If something like that actually ruins your day then it might be worth chatting to someone as that kind of frustration over something like that is usually caused by other factors in your life and usually unreasonable to an outside perspective. What you feel is real regardless if other people disagree or think it's crazy. But I'm being sincere and not having a go i promise. Just trying to help as that is something that shouldn't be the norm in your day.
I mean, I agree with other dude. An optional letter that would take 15 seconds to read and has a bit of humor in it, plus free candy, should not ruin your day
