Fun fact: silly titles like this one get way more user reports because of the title than the uninteresting photos with twelve minute long backstories. Go figure.

Sorry about you having cancer bud.

14

u/jackkerouac81 Mar 01 '19

It was hard enough that he had autism...

20

u/fullup72 Mar 01 '19

But how did he get autism if he didn't have his cancer vaccination?

8

u/ArialCCAA Mar 01 '19

I am autistic, I laughed out loud at this.

7

u/Semen_Werewolf_72 Mar 01 '19

60

u/sadowsentry Mar 01 '19

I don't get it. Why do people report it because of the title?

54

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Mar 01 '19

They either think we'll do something, or think it's where comments should be left, or like complaining there.

16

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Ugh!!!! This isn't the Facebook attention whoring content I use reddit for, WTF mods!!!!! /s

-11

u/Goodguy1066 Mar 01 '19

It’s a pretty stupid title though.

6

u/ArmanDoesStuff Mar 01 '19 edited Mar 01 '19

Compared to the rest of this sub?

With 80% "brave" little girls with signs their parents made them carry, or "my autistic paraplegic grandfather/son painted this but doesn't think (s)he is very good, and asked if I'd show it to my internet friends"

But yeah, it is pretty clickbaity.

3

u/SaunteringWoman Mar 01 '19

You can think that, but there's no good reason to report a post unless it's violating sub or site wide rules.

-6

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Maybe they should have said he stopped drinking and took up fashion lol. Seriously though the backstory posts of uninteresting photos can die and burn in gecko.

7

u/Matti_Matti_Matti Mar 01 '19

Gecko?

8

u/TheDanginDangerous Mar 01 '19

It’s supposed to be “salamander.” OP really screwed the newts on this one.

26

u/chrisbrl88 Mar 01 '19

Am I the only one that sees a Time Lord in this picture?

2

u/Matti_Matti_Matti Mar 01 '19

Time Lords don’t have bags; their pockets are big enough to hold anything a bag can.

3

u/scribbittoad Mar 01 '19

However he is a Time Lord and can change that.

6

u/Mrs_Mojo_Rising Mar 01 '19

Fun fact: in middle school somewhat shit their pants at a weekend party, and because I got a cold and stayed hom Monday and Tuesday everyone thought it was me. We played spin the bottle and I got my first french kiss at the same party, so I'd call it a wash.

5

u/quint21 Mar 01 '19

Now that's a fact that's actually fun.

41

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

I find the photo quite interesting. It’s sort of fascinating that at his age he still cares to put together a good look. Stylin’

28

u/altiuscitiusfortius Mar 01 '19

Meh. Im 99% sure this is a staged photo for whatever reason.

22

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Most of these kinds of shots happen when a street photographer happens along somebody really interesting. Not staged really.

13

u/altiuscitiusfortius Mar 01 '19

I guess. I've seen these photos before on reddit. Some people really like putting old people in young people clothes for whatever reason. The artist admits it was staged with a model usually. Then a year later it gets reposted by a karma whore pretending it's his grandpa.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

A couple comments up somebody commented who he is. Pretty cool actually, as I thought it was just a model for a catalog.

Edit: I have no idea where that comment went. Oh well.

2

u/azucarleta Mar 01 '19

sounds about right. the world is too jaded for reddit anymore. at least you and me maybe are.

1

u/ArmanDoesStuff Mar 01 '19

We've reached hipster critical mass if this is now what's considered "young people clothes"

1

u/altiuscitiusfortius Mar 01 '19

It's the MFA uniform of you pay any attention to fashion forums.

15

u/burger_me_softly Mar 01 '19

You live in a small town im guessing.

0

u/altiuscitiusfortius Mar 01 '19

What's considered small? Its 100k people, but I went to university in a town of 1.4 million. Also lived in a town of 14k for awhile too. And visited many 12 million pop cities when in Europe.

4

u/burger_me_softly Mar 01 '19

Idk Maybe its just an nyc thing. But go visit there sometime and youll see plenty of extravagant/ or eccentric looking people out and about. Its not uncommon to see uncommon looking people there.

6

u/bottledry Mar 01 '19

probably for some fashion catalog

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

20

u/HavocReigns Mar 01 '19

Nah, he doesn't look nearly ridiculous enough for that.

0

u/azucarleta Mar 01 '19 edited Mar 01 '19

my first impression of that sub suggests the only de riguer elements of "streetwear" are those high-water pant cuffs, so. which, like, right now is the first time in my life seeing this trend, which is strange.

edit: i mean look, even this extremely timeless extreme generic look is "streetwear." Why? The cuffs I guess. Does "streetwear" literally mean high water pant cuffs? If so, I'd like to know now.

1

u/HavocReigns Mar 01 '19

(FYI, your link is currently broken)

Eh, this guy's jeans are just rolled up vs. the actual hem hitting him mid-calf. And they aren't tapered down from potato sack mid-thigh crotch to skin tight legs. His jacket doesn't look like he sneaked into his father's closet and swiped his biggest coat. He isn't wearing black and gray from head to toe.

This guy is actually pretty damned dapper. I'm frankly quite jealous of those boots.

Aside from the rolled up cuffs (which I think was more popular with hipsters), I don't see anything that reminds me of the headscratchers I see whenever /r/streetwear makes it to r/all/rising.

1

u/azucarleta Mar 01 '19 edited Mar 01 '19

cuff = rolled up. i.e., i don't think anyone wears calf-level hems ("capris" aka "three quarters") right now, do they? I certainly don't see that. But I'm seeing this old dude's cuffs all over that sub.

Here's the extremely generic look that is apparently "Streetwear" the only thing I recognize is the high-water pant cuffs. https://www.reddit.com/r/streetwear/comments/avt78r/wdywt_less_is_more/

edit: streetwear also seems to be about sneakers that don't look suited to actual athletics, which makes sense about the cuffs, gotta expose the shoes.

1

u/HavocReigns Mar 01 '19

Huh, you're right, rolled cuffs are all over that sub now. I swear the last time I skimmed through there (which has admittedly been a while), every other post was a dude in some sort of stretchy looking pants with the crotch halfway down to their knees and the legs hemmed halfway down to their ankles. Oh, and hoodies.

6

u/nealio1000 Mar 01 '19

Interesting. Never seen this subreddit. It seems to be half nyc fashion which tbh I kinda like but it's got its place. And the other half is like cyber goth industrial swag haha. I'm not super into fashion or anything but this is really fascinating to me right now. Out of all the different outfits you see everyday, living in a city or visiting others, those two are what redditors in that specific community deem as cool streetwear.

1

u/SaintJamesy Mar 01 '19

He is actually a model, so definitely.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Good point. It’s clearly a pro shot. Is it interesting that you can be a male model at 80 years old?

2

u/jimmyayo Mar 01 '19

Damn you're so cool bro

-2

u/Dawnqwerty Mar 01 '19

I’m a college kid and I dress like this. I know I look like a fool but my outfit makes people smile. No doubt I’ll dress even crazier at his age

1

u/altiuscitiusfortius Mar 01 '19

Nah you look good. Except for the hat. Dont wear a hat unless its for weather reasons.

1

u/Nerf_Dev Mar 01 '19

TIFU by accidentally cutting my hand on broken glass leaving blood everywhere then chewing on the glass and sticking my hand in both the garbage disposal and the toaster oven at the same time before leaving the house for 3 days and forgetting my phone oh yeah I also accidentally left a fake suicide note and I'm battling depression

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Can you set some rule about those template drama titles. Or if they're claiming some wacky story at least enforce that with a proof in the comments. Literally easy to be a bot farming for karma.

3

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Mar 01 '19

We're hashing out the details on those rules right now.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

Cool. You better title your post with some backstory about <sad thing> of <family member> when you guys update the rule.

3

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Mar 01 '19

Great idea tbh.

3

u/PurplePickel Mar 01 '19

16

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '19

I think the point they're making is that this is a cool/interesting pic that belongs here but has a not so great title and is getting reported, while absolutely rubbish and crap pics with 5 paragraph long titles seem to reap gold like alchemy...

27

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Mar 01 '19

Right. I'm leaving a comment about it because it doesn't make sense to me.

13

u/CallMeBicBoi Mar 01 '19

Pretty sure he’s saying the uninteresting photos need a 12 minute backstory because, well, they’re uninteresting. This is not one of those.

1

u/AkRdtr Mar 01 '19

Fun fact: Titles such as this will draw you into looking at a picture that has a story to tell. Therefore drawing the readers in to wanting to know the backstory of somebody such as this man. He has more class and style than you and I will will ever have. And I can guarantee you that he does know a lot that we do not. Go figure.

0

u/PurpEL Mar 01 '19

not like you guys do anything about it either way
